I feel like it’s more of a neutral ending. A “good” ending could have been basically the same, but instead Elton does not lose his vocal range and has his voice age normally. Not saying it was necessarily a bad thing his voice deepened in 1986, but for the sake of the “good ending” meme, that seems more appropiate.

I turned 60 in April and i was 10 when this was recorded and i appreciate it more now than i did then--and it was my favorite song then. What a treasure Elton John is, not a local or national treasure--a priceless historical artifact for humanity.

Just seen the movie and my eyes burned with tears sometimes; other times I felt like jumping up and dancing; mostly, I felt really happy watching a great movie with an actor who really touched my heart. Now I can't get enough of Elton's music.

Gawd, there is NOTHING like listening and seeing the legends from their early performance, so pure, yet the sound quality and vocals WITHOUT AUTOTUNE are amazing. There were so many talented people in the time before electric fake auto tune music destroyed real music. Very few people can sing live on stage and maintain the pitch and tone like EJ, plus write his own music (with the amazing lyrics help from Taupin). Makes me so sad, these legends are fading with no one to replace them. I remember seeing EJ live in the 90s on tour with Billy Joel (another legend) and Elton sounded exactly the same then as he did from this 1972 performance. God bless musicians! I've always been in awe of real musicians and how they come up with the music.

I highly doubt that Elton's voice was the same. It might have been good but it changed. It became deeper.

I went through an ivf insert a couple of weeks ago and Rocket man was on at the clinic's radio station just as the embryo was inserted. It was such a powerful experience. Of course I know the song is about something totally different - but in that very moment when I saw that little shooting star on the ultrasound.. Elton John was singing about my embryo and my longing for something more.❤

I was in the Seattle Tower Record store in Oct. 1974.I had..just got back from camping the beaches in Hawaii so had not watched any TV for three months and did not know Elton was performing in Seattle. In the store people were huddled in places and whispering. I turned around suddenly in the aisle and bummed into a guy walking behind me. H e was not tall so I was looking right into his eyes. I said" excuse me." He gave me a big smile. I thought to myself that he looked familiar. I walked out of the store and people outside asked me if I had seen Elton John in there. He was actually very cute and nice. He was 27 then. I was 23.
