As a millennial Kansas Citian, I want to mention that a big part of the nostalgia for the ZZ was that it had a significantly lower height requirement than the other coasters, so for people in a specific age range, it was basically everybody in the city's first rollercoaster. Apparently, the reboot will also have a lower height req, so it can carry on that tradition. The Orient Express was a better coaster (in most people's opinion), but nothing can touch the nostalgia of your first coaster, especially when it's a shared experience with so many friends and family members.

The Zambezi Zinger is the coaster that made me realize I loved roller coasters. I rode it in 1977 when I was visiting from out of town as a 10 year old, visiting my favorite aunt and uncle. He was in the Air Force and they left the following year so I never made it back. The new one is a nice homage and I’m glad to see it, but I think I like the other one better. I’m going to have to go to Columbia someday to ride it.
@kickthesky Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I grew up near Great America in Gurnee, IL, and the Whizzer is the same model of coaster as the original ZZ. It was EVERYONE's first coaster in the area. It was my one of my first coasters. It was the first for both my grandkids and for one of my kids. I also took my nephews on their first coaster ride on it as well. It was why everyone screamed when they threatened to tear it down for Superman. Glad they didn't.
@MegaBrokenstar5 ай бұрын
This. From Chicago, but the Whizzer was the same there. 36” height requirement made it the first non-kiddie roller coaster most of us were ever able to ride. Same model as the ZZ. Glad to hear the neo-ZZ will carry that on. I wish it really was as low as 36”, but unfortunately nowadays a lot of parks impose non-safety-based height reqs on coasters as a de facto age req to avoid scared kids and annoyed parents.

Zambezi Zinger is one of the most memorable coasters for me. It was one of my first that I ever rode, and I can remember my dad and I getting stuck on it for about half an hour in the blazing hot sun right at the top of the spiral lift. Despite that, I still loved it as a child!
@vmanfrost90552 жыл бұрын
I am stoked for this coaster since the last coaster to open at WOF was the prowler in 2009. I always used to ask older friends and family what their favorite coaster at WOF was during their childhood, and most of them said the Zambezi Zinger was the best one. And the fact its not only coming back, but its coming back as a newer, smoother, taller, and hopefully funner rollercoaster is amazing. And I am also curious about the new trains and track, I wonder if we will see more of this "TITAN" track in the future. I do wish the new model had the old tunnel or at least an inversion considering the park only has 1 GOOD inverting coaster (patriot) and hasn't even had any coasters announced AT ALL for over 10 years. I hope I can ride this on opening day, and I hope it exceeds my expectations. This is also a sign of cedar fair investing more attractions into this park and several other small parks over the next couple of years. and I hope that I live to see the day that timber wolf gets RMC'd (or replaced with some sort of launched coaster) cause it takes up SOOOOOO much space, I mean you could fit 1-2 rollercoasters and a flat ride in that kind of space.
@bentonbrightwell89532 жыл бұрын
1. I’ll echo what you said about the original ZZ. My dad’s side of the family grew up going to WoF and still to this day about about the original. It’s always caused me to be really curious about it myself. I’m stoked they are bringing it back in spirit. This is a dream come true for me. 2. There’s apparently a tunnel according to the press release, but it was omitted from the concept POV. 3. There are rumors already swirling that the next coaster will be a replacement for The Orient Express. I sure hope this is true. If so, I imagine it will be a sit-down looping coaster of some sort. 4. I don’t think Cedar Fair will ever invest again in RMC. There’s a reason they haven’t built more since the one year they built any. I’m told by very reliable sources that RMC as a company is difficult to work with and their rides are plagued with issues. Some more of that has recently been coming to light to the general coaster enthusiasts, such as Lightning Rod’s transformation, Railblazer’s and Vengeance’s structural issues, etc.. I would expect if this ride is a success from an upkeep POV to see Titan Track conversions instead of Iron Horse conversions. GCI created Topper Track to be a direct competitor to RMC - we just haven’t seen any parks bite yet. I still wouldn’t expect Timber Wolf to get converted as they just put a ton of money into it over the last 5 years restoring almost every foot of track.

There is a lot more missing unless that animation isn't close to what it will be. Whizzer’s drops are better too, and it is much better paced and balanced. And of course, we still have it.
