Billy, you need to write a book about your life with Elvis. You knew him better than anyone else alive today. Your families moved to Memphis together. You knew Elvis your entire life. You watched him become famous. Write the book and set the record straight

I agree. If there is one person whose voice and perspective would be invaluable in setting the record straight on EP, it would be you, Billy. There are not many still around who could do that objectively. Your story in writing would also be a wonderful way to leave a legacy to your own family, to your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a witness, your perspective matters more than you know, so it really would be shame if you did not leave behind in writing your story, and your story with your cousin. I hope you will seriously consider this project.

Jo and Billy hit the nail on the head on this video. It's a shame how the Smith's (who Elvis obviously loved) were treated by the Hollywood snobs. Elvis never forgot where he came from. It's a shame some other obviously have. Those people wouldn't have ever been on the map if it wasn't for Elvis. Great video Jo & Billy. You can tell by Elvis' laugh that he was not always depressed; if I want to laugh I just listen to recordings of him laughing and it's like sunshine on a rainy day to me. He was living the fast paced, rock star life, but he stayed humble and true to his roots. He was extraordinary and if he wasn't enjoying his life then there wouldn't be millions of loyal fans like me loving him to this day. I love everything you said because I know it is authentic. If you guys feel like adding anymore thoughts about this movie, please do. I enjoyed the movie because I'm an Elvis fanatic and I take what I can get of him, but I also enjoyed this 3 part video because I need to know what he was really like because I love him. I am reading more and more disturbing commentary from those who speak harshly and unkindly about people they have never met. Billy & Jo are speaking from their hearts and recollecting memories personal only to themselves. Linda Thompson was a huge part of Elvis's life for nearly five years, as were the men who surrounded him and had been friends since school. It was a very bad move not to include Billy, Jo and his family and friends, especially at the premiere in Memphis. It was not all Priscilla. Yes, I said it out loud! I have met so many elitist show business types and, boy, do they have egos. I love Billy and Jo for how REAL and GENUINE they are. My respect level for these people is sky high.

It’s my opinion, I have never seen so many Priscilla haters. I’ve got to be fair! Folks are just envious and jealous. Folks criticizing the Elvis movie b/c they weren’t consulted or weren’t in it. Baz Luhrmann made it perfectly clear Priscilla had no influence in the Elvis movie. I’m so glad Baz addressed that! Folks are hating on the wrong person. The sneaky malicious undertones about Priscilla is not called for. For what? Baz went on to say it was his storyline not Priscilla’s. Girlfriends, other family members, friends were not in the movie and was not intended to be in this movie. Folks, this was not a biography time-line of Elvis’ life. Haters have made Priscilla the topic of discussion when she didn’t have any great significance in the movie. The movie’s focus was on the partnership between Elvis and crooked Col. Tom Parker. One can criticize the Elvis movie until the cows come, fact still remains the movie was a success. Austin Butler portrayed the hell out of Elvis winning a Golden Globe. It’s ludicrous to think Austin was trying to become Elvis himself. The Elvis movie is nominated for 9 Oscars, yes 9 Oscars. Folks throw stones at Priscilla for being in the movie. Really! When it’s all said and done. Hate or love Priscilla, she was Elvis’ One and Only wife and bore his One and Only child, Lisa Marie. That says a lot! Further, I don’t think Priscilla thinks she’s better than anyone else. Why go there! I know Billy and Joe have their favorite, and that is Linda Thompson. If Elvis wanted to propose or marry Linda, he would have. There’s nothing wrong with that, but don’t run Priscilla’s name in the ground, I’ve watched every last one of Priscilla’s interviews and at no time does she speak unfavorable about anybody. That’s more than I can say about other folks.
@barbaramorgan5992 Жыл бұрын
@@T111-o2c why is Linda Thompson hurt. Why? Elvis never proposed to her. If he wanted to marry her he would have proposed to her. Linda wasn’t with Elvis 5 years, it was little over 4 years. Assuming the whole Colonel wanting all this money from Elvis is true, Elvis should've gotten himself a lawyer because that sounded like extortion or blackmail. He needed someone in law that could've said that his business with the Colonel was improper and needed to have contracts with more legal standing. I mean look at the 80s when the lawyer responsible for Lisa's trust found out that the Colonel acted against Elvis' best interests and kept the estate from going broke.

Like Elvis said "The image is one thing and a human being is another", they're two separate entities. Elvis created the image persona to make people happy and this image is still being used to make people happy today, it's merely a character [still being] molded to suit the taste and likes of the masses. The rift between EPE and the Smith family actually highlights the distinction between the image and the man which is actually a testimony of respect to the man that was Elvis.

This makes me nuts when these awful insinuations get put out there, especially Elvis reactions. What about a zillion of these younger people do not realize is back then girls married at 16. Also, it was not an oddity to marry an older man. I get nuts when unfair wrongs get spoken about Elvis. I’m no one to him, but a fan. Well then the movie is a good thing, because people will watch here for more details. Why wouldn't the younger generation know the giving and caring Elvis? The movie did not show Elvis as uncaring or selfish, it showed the opposite. Also, there are tons of books and videos about Elvis, why would you think those are going away? The only thing that's changed is that now more people are interested in him. This business of trashing the movie is ridiculous. On Spotify, there are now almost 16 million listeners a month to Elvis; before the movie there were only 9 million. And that's not the new artists, that's the real Elvis.

@@katgirlblue 👍I went with my two sons aged in their late 20's and they walked away from the movie realizing he wasn't a caricature on the Strip; subject of bad bathroom jokes; and a Halloween costume; they came away with an enormous respect for the man. Granted, myself and my sons went out of memory of my Australian relatives including several aunts and my mother who adored Elvis, and had always hoped he would visit OZ for concerts, alas, never to be. The movie is definitely working as a gateway for people to research Elvis further if interest is there, and am sure along the way it will be discovered what a generous person Elvis was, whether thru YTube, books, or other sources of information.
@katgirlblue2 жыл бұрын
@@carrenpalmer3453 that's exactly what I mean. All those other sources of information are not going to disappear simply because there's a new movie about him! People are not that stupid that they believe everything in a movie is meant to be literal. We all know that a movie is visual, and even when it's based on a novel, instead of a real person, they always have to make changes because most things would be too boring on screen. We already see the immediate effects, which are that millions more people are listening to his music, and finally new generations see that he was a real person with heart and soul, and not a caricature, exactly as you said. They also are understanding for the first time the enormity of his talent and influence.
@robbielavine52492 жыл бұрын
I also want to say that the new generation that are serious about knowing Elvis will find your videos. I know the movie was disjointed and lacking truth, but I have no doubt the positive In it, is that it will point people to learn more. It is out there. I mean I know that there are things about him nobody should or will ever know bc we don’t have a right to. But what truth that is wanted to be known is out there. They will find and dig deep into him and find him and who he was. I did! For those who really begin to become interested in him, they will find you and your beautiful stories. They will find your stories and Linda’s and be able to see! My whole fam is from Memphis and and some knew him, and for years I knew nothing about him until several years ago. I was raised on 90’s music and once I started to read about him, I realize how cool he was. I began to actually read all the books and found your videos and Linda’s book and videos. I know I teach teens who know of him and once they see the movie, some may research and look further. I believe because of you and some genuine people who have spoke about him, these new generations wilI see him for who he was as you paint him. It is apparent that he was an intelligent, funny, goofy, giving, introspective, spiritual, In tune, empath who loved God and family and wanted to be seen as a human who bleeds like the rest. It is clear he had his faults like the rest and had his moments. He seemed to be a man who wanted to teach and reach those who wanted to find inner truth and God. He seemed to be a man who knew music was one way to connect people to the inner happiness and a great way of self expression. He seemed happy to me with the occasional upset of life. His talent was beyond and out of this world. I believe my generation and younger ones will find the truth. Thank you for all your stories you share.

Love you, Billy and your lovely wife! Oh dear, I found you because I got so interested in Elvis because of the movie. I am sorry it was a bad experience for you. Sorry that people who should have been invited to the premier were not invited. But at least we found you so we can look at your videos and learn more. My first book about Elvis was a biography about Gladys because I lost a baby in 1980 and my thoughts went to her because I knew she had suffered similar. Of course I did not know her but love her and think she was beautiful and the biography of her caused me to think much of Elvis' generosity and kindness came from her.

I'd love to talk with both of you more about the stuff you mentioned near the end of the video, Billy & Jo, about Elvis changing and people 'needing to get ready to hit the road'... I loved the movie but, did go away feeling sad thinking Elvis was so unhappy and I also, at one point felt from the movie Elvis wasn't enjoying performing for us the fans and I felt sad about that, too! I do hope his newer fans visit your channel and learn so many wonderful things about him. Ty both for sharing such valuable information with us. Thank you so much for all of your videos, keeping the Real Elvis alive with your truth. You tell all of your stories so natural and truthfully, so humbly, if I had known Elvis I would brag my butt off hahaha. But you knew him and loved him and he loved you both, you are his family, but you are so humble about it. You are amazing people, I love you both so much, it is easy to see why Elvis kept you both so close to him. I saw an old video on KZbin of Don Lane going through Graceland for AustralianTV, when it first opened to the public, Billy is on it, it is amazing to see, even then Billy was so humble and sweet. You are such a sweet couple, lovely, genuine people. These videos you make are better than any Elvis movie ever made, thank you both so much, God Bless you both ❤ 💖 😊

Yes and 42 years that's why they couldn't pack into that movie everything that I was ever said or done they would have had to have a miniseries to actually tell the whole from 1954 to 1977 can't be covered in a 3-hour movie and they did try to honor some of his friends and some of his band which far as I know just James Burton maybe I don't know about Chef I know Ronnie died last year you know you just you can't get Elvis's story and a 3-hour movie and they cut 20 minutes of it because of the length but we all I felt so in that nice cool theater was a good sound and picture I feel like I was back with Elvis because I just wanted to hear the music and all the other stuff I'd already heard and I think Austin Butler I don't know about all them impersonators and thank you but Austin Butler is the best I've seen so far and I've seen some at the coast casinos here in Mississippi they were good but they were not Elvis Presley and they're never will be another Elvis Presley he is the king for a reason AKA Elvis Junkie

Well I respect your opinion and I won't watch the movie. You and your wife lived at Graceland and were apart of his life. My mother was a Elvis fan and would let me stay up late with her to watch his movies. I remember her calling me into the house when the news reported his death. I was 13 at the time but became a Elvis fan that day. She passed away in 1980 and would've loved hearing your stories. You two are definitely the real deal and I appreciate listening to your stories about Elvis and your family.

Y'all are so down to earth and just such beautiful folks. Thanks so much for sharing and preserving ELVIS memory. I rented the movie and zoned out a few minutes into it because it was so out of proportion. My daughter walked in at some point, watched a few brief moments, and said "that's not how it happened, is it?". My children were brought up on Elvis, I've taken them to Graceland, and that daughter has been to the birth place as well. THEY KNOW! I just told her, it's about the money 😥I love you guys, and I so appreciate all you do❤️

A high number of the drugs found in Presley’s system were either barbiturates or benzodiazepines. These kinds of drugs are very addictive and should never be mixed. As demonstrated in his death, significant doses can result in depression of the nervous system to the point that suppressed breathing and heart rate can be fatal. Further, the amount of codeine found in his body alone was over 30 times higher than the recommended dose. All of the drugs found during autopsy are prescription medications rather than street drugs like heroin. While it’s not impossible to purchase these kinds of medications illegally, especially for a celebrity with deep pockets, evidence indicates that Presley was offered many of these medications legally.

George Nichopoulos, better known as Dr. Nick, was Presley’s physician from 1970 to 1977. He began working with Presley to address saddle pain before getting caught up in prescribing an unnecessarily large number of drugs. His role in Presley’s death is undeniable: In 1977 alone, Dr. Nick wrote him prescriptions for over 10,000 doses of narcotics, amphetamines and sedatives. It’s clear that these drugs weren’t warranted but were instead a way to placate Presley. As Dr. Nick put it himself, Presley “felt that by getting drugs from a doctor, he wasn’t the common everyday junkie getting something off the street.” Unfortunately, that’s not how drugs work. Regardless of the source, addictive medications can be just as potent, whether they come from a doctor’s pen or a dealer’s hand. In 1980, Dr. Nick was indicted on 14 counts of overprescribing drugs to Presley and other celebrities, including Jerry Lee Lewis. The jury failed to convict him based on the lack of evidence that his motives were malicious. However, Dr. Nick was eventually stripped of his license in 1993, despite his insistence that he wasn’t trying to hurt people; he just cared too much about them.

Dr Nick should if stayed professional, but he didn't because he liked all the gifts .

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I've stumbled across your videos and have continued to watch because of the honesty and lack of self-serving attitudes. It seems that the reasons for your content is simply to share what you have lived, witnessed and experienced with a family member that you loved deeply and who happened to be adored by the rest of the world as well. Elvis said that there was the man and there was the image, and it was hard to live up to the image. Your perspective keeps us informed about the human being your cousin was and this is invaluable.
