my brothers and I just buried our old mummy today and this is the Elvis song she loved because she took in to our house and home loads of strangers and poor old ladies and mum always had a place at table for the stranger. us boys met heaps of angels going through to do what we couldn't understand but alluded to by mum wisdom.

Elvis Presley Lyrics "In The Ghetto" As the snow flies On a cold and gray Chicago mornin' A poor little baby child is born In the ghetto And his mama cries 'Cause if there's one thing that she don't need It's another hungry mouth to feed In the ghetto People, don't you understand The child needs a helping hand Or he'll grow to be an angry young man some day Take a look at you and me, Are we too blind to see? Do we simply turn our heads and look the other way? Well, the world turns And a hungry little boy with a runny nose Plays in the street as the cold wind blows In the ghetto And his hunger burns So he starts to roam the streets at night And he learns how to steal, and he learns how to fight In the ghetto Then one night in desperation The young man breaks away He buys a gun, Steals a car, Tries to run, But he don't get far And his mama cries As a crowd gathers 'round an angry young man Face down on the street with a gun in his hand In the ghetto And as her young man dies, On a cold and gray Chicago mornin', Another little baby child is born In the ghetto And his mama cries

@sundayschoolteacher63874 ай бұрын
33 years old is not a baby. Step dad realizes 33 is not a baby.... so, of course, he seems mean to you. It's time both you and your son grow up and find Jesus. Your son will take you to your grave early, if you don't let go. He's grown, you can't still carry him, it's about your life now, it's either your life or his life. I've seen many strong, smart women die from still trying to carry their grown sons, who have chosen to make poor choices, especially drugs and alcohol.... sons who wouldn't listen, die.... and after the mother dies, the sons get stronger and walk out a better life. You decide it's either you or him, and which one of you is better for the family or to clean up his mess, all these babies. You sound like that old fisty lady we buried at church a couple of years ago. Her ugly son looked so helpless and weak, he was hard to look at, she let him move back in with her and his step-dad, he wore her out, till she dropped dead. Old bitty came out of retirementIto work to take care of him. I spotted it right off and watched him suck the life out of her. She's dead, and her husband are dead... soon he was he's sporting around, trying to look good. No, you can't sit next to me... I got up and moved. It's you or him, all God ask you to do was carry him for is 9- months, you've carried him 396 months! Most likely you're dead, but if not, I serve you mail. Let him go to God

This song cuts very deep for anyone has had a childhood like this. My life was troublesome, I was born in Chicago and I always lived with the idea that my legacy was just going to be another poor boy dead. Because on another cold and gray Chicago night (as many nights in Chicago are) a one mother cries.

People say Elvis Didn't write his songs and while technically he didn't he did put his genius on it. The writer of this song said that Elvis came up with the idea of finishing the song with " And his momma cries" to create the vicious circle effect of the song. That is creativity people

Just went back home to Maryland for first time other than a funeral in 30+ years. Knew things got worse in Baltimore over time. Never expected to see how bad and deteriorated. Broke my heart. It is now truly a ghetto. I pray for those that live there in poverty and despair.

😢I love this song. Thank you Marc Davis & Elvis for making this powerful song such a big hit. It is an endless and powerful message. Sadly, today I this country & around the word this is still happening. 😢. I was raised in the ghetto and thanks to The Lord, I made it out, but with many struggles to tell. Some of the kids that I knew in the ghetto are now dead or in jail. Thank God for my mother’s endless prayers for my siblings & I. “AND HIS MOMMA CRIES!”
