Not a single person that worked for Elvis had a bad thing to say about him. He treated all his staff & his fellow people that performed with him on stage with great respect. She really loved Elvis and she called him Mr. Elvis and he called her Mawee. She really had a lot of funny stories to tell about him. She never said a bad word against him. She and I always remained good friends. I wanted her to meet my son (Kenny Presley) so he and I went down there one week-end and actually stayed with her. She was an excellent cook. Before she died her request was that Kenny sing at her funeral. He told her if that was what she wanted he would be honored to do it. Kenny sang at her husband's funeral who preceded her in death. She was a wonderful lady with a big heart and if she told you something you could count on it being the truth. Kenny and I both loved her so much.

I cannot see how anyone could think that Elvis was a racist, the man sang Black music for Gods sake people!! If you know anything at all about a REAL racist they certainly would not be singing the music of a race they despise. If you look at the Memphis Mafia none of them were black, however, most of the Memphis mafia were members of Elvis' family or guys he met in school. In those days, the school days, you did not have white and black kids playing together so it's easy to see why he did not have any school buddies that were black. I also noticed that many of the comments are from people shocked that Elvis bought her a house. There are plenty of stories of Elvis buying homes, cars, trucks, motorcycles and all sorts of things for people. One guy met Elvis in Las Vegas and was admiring the belt Elvis was wearing, a few months later he received a package and it was that belt! Elvis read a story in the local Memphis paper about a young disabled man living in his home taking care of his elderly mother. The man did not have a wheel chair and would literally be crawling around on the floor to do things for his sick and elderly mama. Elvis got the guys together and they went and purchased the man a brand new wheel chair. The story goes that Elvis and the guys went to the home with the new chair and it was Elvis himself who picked the man up off the floor and set him in the wheelchair... THAT shows you what kind of a man Elvis Presley was.

@ememe14124 жыл бұрын
@@monaecoles1960 that attribution appeared in 1957, in an article by Sepia Magazine. A white owned sensationalist publication geared towards a black readership. You know why you've never heard of this mag? The main point was to stir blacks to get them to buy the magazine, yet offer nothing towards the deeper issues like the civil rights movement. They were playing on the fact that he was from the same town as a racist congressman (forget the name...) that the black community hated. That's it. They offered nothing of the circumstances where Elvis was alleged to have said this... Yet years later it still gets churned even though it has been debunked since the 60s at least. The quote did not appear in white publications that arguably would've advanced his early career in parts of the US. It's a surprise for those that knew Elvis because his music heroes were black and he made the effort to 'go across town' to listen to black artists. There's even a 1956 picture of him talking to black reporter ladies backstage. No one in 1956 would've batted an eyelid if a Southern white boy had refused to be interviewed by blacks yet he gave them access....

Great research awesome video with tidbits revealing what a great loving generous and compassionate man Elvis was. Many celebrities put on a facade for the world but this man was truly a great soul no wonder his music never ceases to inspire me. Elvis dud not just have the House purchased for her. He actually chose it herself, took her there himself , and told her , "this is yours IF YOU LIKE IT"... That is RESPECT. Only a Man with great self respect and nobility of character can have that kind of Humbleness.... .... Love you my King...

To be honest I’m black, 62 years old and never heard Elvis was racist. What I heard grumbling about was how white artists copied & stole black music without giving the black artists credit. But that wasn’t done by the average artist. That was done by the record producers and the record companies.

As a stone mason, and someone who has been to Graceland, I can not lie, the stonework at Graceland and this house is Hideous. Elvis a Great Singer (The Best In The World) was not too concerned with architecture😅, I saw some 'plywood patch work' done on Graceland as well. ... he was a true country boy, God Bless him.
