He came along at a time when music in this country sucked, and young people had NOTHING to listen to. It's no accident that as soon as The Beatles and the British Invasion hit, Elvis became, for the most part, an afterthought in the pop music scene, a fact that even he acknowledged. He'd have a hit every 3-4 years until he finally dropped dead from his foolish excesses.

He was very good friends with my primary idol- yes, Elvis is second ONLY because I , like Tom Jones, am Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 So my primary heart is with Tom, via my gran, who is (was 🙏🏻) 💯 Welsh both sides- so Tom Jones hummed lullabies were a staple- I literally- grew up on Tom Jones via my grandmother, and ELVIS, via my youngest Uncle. I was FIVE- at the time this, these “comeback” dinner concerts were HUGE- I remember my Uncle playing the record and doing the fist pump - which he taught me- to do on time to the record,, like Elvis.. at my tender age of FIVE..(my uncle had seen Elvis in concert many times) much to my Grans’ HORROR! 😂😂😂 How blessed, was I!! Start investing musically the artist “TOM JONES” The only man Elvis admired- They were contemporaries, visionaries, extremely loving charismatic icons. Elvis unfortunately, did not have those with sufficient integrity amongst them, to help him, from his demons. Well I was there as a boy of 5 years old; it was at August 12 1970 in International Hotel in Las Vegas. Thanks to this concert I became an Elvis fan for forever and ever. Believe me the audience became completely berserk when Elvis did these moves during his songs. I remember and you can find it on youtube, he did Love me tender and in the middle of the song he decide to go through the audience to greet them and this from the right to the left side and believe me the whole audience went to him like flies to honey. I got from him a hand shake. I don't know other entertainers who did this. Can you imagine the feeling of his bodyguards at that moment, they were very scared because in that crowd could be somebody with evil intentions and they were not there to protect Elvis. The audience was always crazy and they kept on shouting for Elvis after the end of the closing tune so in 1971 they decided to hire an man of 41 years old named Al Dvorin to shout at the end "Elvis has left the building". Really they had to do this or else we, and me too would still be there to shout for Elvis. Believe me Elvis was UNBELIEVABLE, he was revolution, he changed our way of listening to music and had a profounding effect on our lives, socially, culturally, emotionally... and he was very generous and humble. Of his income he gave surely 2/3 away for the good cause and he never deducted his donations from his income tax because for him that was the same as wanting something in return, his dad said once "Elvis why are you giving so much away to people you even don't know, I'm worried about your bank account". Elvis replied "Listen dad, I love to see people being happy, I enjoy so much their smile on their face when they are happy, now if i make a record or give a concert I have millions of dollars on my account just like that so I don't worry about the money, and besides if somebody asks me money to make him or her happy who am I to refuse that?" If Elvis would be alive he would call you Ms or me sir and then he said "please just call me Elvis". I never stop saying that if we all would do what Elvis did because of generosity and humanity, the world would be a much better place" ELVIS = THE GOAT!!!

He's there for his audience not only to sing, but to make them laugh for entertainment. Elvis is one of a kind. There will NEVER be anyone like him. He's the greatest performer of all time. Hello from England The day Elvis died was 2 days before my 12th birthday. I still miss him even though he died 44 years ago. Every song that Elvis sang are all my FAVOURITES but this song is one of my top favourites. WHAT IS IT ABOUT ELVIS? He SANG like NOBODY else. He had a VOICE like NOBODY ELSE By this time he had REINVENTED HIMSELF - the JUMPSSUITS like NOBODY ELSE The ENTERTAINMENT VALUE was OFF THE RICHTER SCALE He had a "SWAGGER" on stage like NOBODY ELSE He had an "aura" like NOBODY ELSE THE CHARISMA was OFF THE RICHTER SCALE. I only saw him once in concert 1973 Aloha concert that was broadcasted around the world and seen by 1.5 Billion people. I sat in 3rd row center n went crazy n could not take my eyes off of him( I was 21) listen to " I' like Remember You 1973 Aloha concert, Just Pretend 1970, " You've Lost That Loving Feeling 1970, n of course American Trilogy 1973 Aloha concert ( find the one he is wearing a white suit, 1 yellow lei, 1 red/white lei n red silk scarf) this was the show that I saw n he had no mistakes, I love your reaction n thank you for keeping his music alive

You may already know but in case you don’t, this video is from the Elvis documentary film from 1970 called “Elvis: That’s The Way It is” the entire film is about his preparation for his 1970 concerts in Las Vegas at the International Hotel. The great thing about this film is that it’s a documentary so he’s being himself and in his prime as a performer. Anyway, for some reason Elvis has trouble with remembering the lyrics to “Polk Salad Annie” so as I understand it, someone, maybe Elvis himself, wrote down the lyrics, just in case. Whether Elvis really forgot the lyrics or simply read them as joke to his band is anyone’s guess but to answer your question, that’s what he was doing. I highly recommend you watch “Elvis : That’s The Way It Is.” (1970)

i had a father in law, via me first marriage, who grew "polk salad" in his back yard. and he ate it proudly. it was not pallitable to me, but i did eat it when he invited me over fer supper. the main entree was squirrel, which i also consumed out of respect.

It's something you have to see to believe. Elvis had a generous nature that knew no boundaries; one of the few famous individuals whose heart was as big as his talent. He loved his fans as much (if not more) than we loved him, and he wanted to give back to his fans any way he could. Even if that meant crouching down as low to the floor as needed to give fans a kiss. ❤
