This is probably one of my top 3 favorite moments in this film. Austin Butler does a phenomenal job embodying The Iconic Elvis Presley. I don’t know much about Elvis. But to me, this performance signifies everything about him, and the Legendary Icon that he was, how he’s sang with so much soul you were just entranced by it, visually… and literally why he was set apart from everybody else. Even this song choice for this scene that really embodied what Elvis meant to the people in His Era, the reason why the people called him the king of rock ‘n’ roll. Just absolutely phenomenal.👏🏽❤️

When I first saw this scene in the theatre I thought that maybe now subsequent generations will have a glimpse at why he was so great and why parents, church leaders, etc were scared to death of him for the way he moved, his music, his clothes and that he was wearing makeup. He blew the lid off of conservative, repressed America in the 1950’s. Presley was amazing. Sometimes I even wonder if at the end of his life he even recognized how much he had accomplished up until the time he went into the Army. Just yesterday I was thinking that I need to go back and listen to the 1950’s boxed set as I’ve been addicted to his music from 1968-1977.

I recall reading that after he died…his hearse ran over and killed two women when leaving Graceland. They were in the way. Elvis was like catnip for women! Edit: It was a random car, not the hearse. Sorry.
@martinhenderson52652 жыл бұрын
That's not true. While people were gathered outside of Graceland a day or two afterward, a car drove into the crowd and killed two -- or maybe three -- people. The hearse didn't drive over anyone.

How would you know? Baz said scenes were filmed out of sequence but ALL concert scenes were filmed as real concerts. Not just little pieces of Vegas for instance. They needed lots of footage of butler performing to get the closest to elvis as possible. Also the extras in the crowd went to every take and were enthusiastic as if it was really elvis.. Movies are not real life, they're not filmed in sequence.
@fenixa2z9362 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t get into this movie. Editing was all over the place. Camera all over the place, font graphics all over the place and then there’s modern rap music in there? Smh I stopped watching. I wanted to know who Elvis was. At least something like Walk The Line for Johnny Cash. That was a GREAT movie.
@ojanymolina42222 жыл бұрын
You didn't finish the film so your opinion is lacking and irrelevant
@samanthacraig-allen47732 жыл бұрын
How I was personally seeing it was that the chaotic camera work and editing was Colonel’s perspective. But when you see Elvis, it’s pretty still and melancholic in a way until you see the crowd then it’s just all over the place
@ruthkromer32612 жыл бұрын
That's honestly just the director's style. If you watch his other films, like Moulin Rouge, they're shot in pretty much the same way. His style is definitely not for everyone.
@lifeissweet98262 жыл бұрын
Baz is unique. If you are ADD you can't possibly follow. I though it was great, because I grew up seeing elvis from the time he came back from Germany. , I've seen ELVIS several times, because the edits are so fast. You're better off seeing a slow documentary. This is not elvis telling his story. It was the colonel remembering everything.

@lifeissweet98262 жыл бұрын
Maybe you wanted a wax model. Gmab no one looks like elvis. That right there shows how unique he was. You're not really a fan. I saw elvis in Vegas, butler has him to a T. His face doesn't have to match but his voice, mannerisms, humor, anger, relationships, all feel as if Elvis is there. If you are under 50 you can't understand. This is not cgi.
@bakivaotuua91202 жыл бұрын
Impersonators are just that, Austin Butler gave us the real Elvis!
@memphisflashfan12 жыл бұрын
@@lifeissweet9826 Like I’ve been saying since the movie has been released, if people wanted someone who looked exactly like EP, he wasn’t available…he’s at Graceland. For the purpose of the movie, they didn’t need an impersonator, they needed an ACTOR with the capacity to explore depth of character and relationships. There’s a difference. I think Austin was phenomenal in this.

Honestly Elvis was not that great. It's just that era there was not much talent.
