I broke a steer when I was 9 years old in the 3rd grade. It was part of showing him in the county fair. You basically just have to walk up to the animal with confidence (in my case it was totally faked. I was terrified but he didn’t know that! lol) & slide the halter on. You always have to show superiority, confidence & strength. Otherwise that bull will run you over & take advantage of any weakness you show. When training you MUST always speak in a strong, stern voice. That way he’ll know the difference between “work” time & “play” time. It’s not being mean-it’s being SAFE. Remember he won’t be cute & hornless forever;) Good luck!

Doing great Elysia, Wow boys are doing great in school, all hard workers. Henri looks comfortable, one thing you should have is a hay rack, nothing fancy just some 2x4's attached to the wall at a 45 will work, just to keep his hay off the ground. One other thing, many, many years ago we had chickens and pigs in the same barn, all of sudden our chickens went missing, we thought something got in and took them, then one day I found evidence in the pig pen, live and learn. Love your videos, cant wait for the barn to be done.

You need to start shifting Henry to eating more cattle feed and stop with the apples. Apples can cause bloat, even eating a small amount can cause problem, especially for a small guy. Their digestive system is very different.

henry doesnt just eat apples haha He eats calf starter and silage. He just gets apples in the mornign as a bonding experience (treat) to encourgae gettign closer to us. And by apples i mean one apple chopped into small pieces

Henry needs to be able to go outside and be a cow, being locked up in a small square box, no sunlight or fresh air isn’t good. Bovines like to run and frolic just as much as horses do, keeping him locked up is kind of cruel. I grew up with cattle and made friends with some, they were never locked up except at night when they were babies and it was really cold

Hi Theresa, Henry is in the barn for a a reason. He will not live only in the barn in time. We are working with a mentor on how we are to handle welcoming a bull that is unhandled at 7 months old.
