Dan is the hero of all kind people! People who are kind are often targets for those with fewer skills and low self esteem. Thank you Dan, for helping kind people assert themselves and thoughtfully deflect the unwanted and undeserved behaviors of others often coming our way and to get those behaviors to stop for good, yet in a kind a loving way, whether in a professional or private setting.

You nailed it, Mitzy and I'm grateful for your words. Whatever we have to say, we can say it in a loving way. We'll never benefit--nor will anyone else--when we throw more darkness at darkness. I am not a hero, but I am trying to change the global dialogue one conversation at a time and that means we're all in it together--or it won't be done.

Dan, you are a GEM. All of your videos has been very helpful to me and it has allowed me to illustrate assertiveness in a customer service -oriented way. However, leadership is attempting to orchestrate that I work performance deficit. I’m trying to figure out a way to respond to her meeting notes, that are erroneously alluding that I am deficits without defending myself but pointing out that I have satisfied those standards. The department I work for has rumored to have a high turnover and fire associates that complain (whistleblow). My leader retaliates by giving associates, that she is not in favor for, a heavy workload. Delay in vacation approval time for those individuals. There are bullying tendencies, for example making the least like associates come in to the office to work, while others stay home. Allowing her favorites to come in early enough to dodge commenter traffic.

Ouch. Pretty heavy stuff, Ponytail. I hope I can help. Here's a bit of free advice. Try to work it out outside of court. I say this based on my grandfather's advice. He was an attorney for most of his life, and ended his career as a federal judge, so he knows a little something about the law and trials. His advice was firm. "A bad settlement is better than a good lawsuit." Of course he meant that when you go to court, you spend a great deal of money on attorneys and a great deal of time--and rarely have much to show for it. Just a little free advice.

I once had a situation where I was trying to publish something helpful on the company intranet but had to clear it with a moody and evasive Comms manager first. He came off reluctant to help but advised he'd need to run past wider team and that he'd copy me in on any communications so I'd be kept in the loop. He didn't. Instead, went behind my back and saw that my idea (that I'd invested a lot of thought and time on) was shut down completely. How would you address something like this?
@TheWizardOfWords Жыл бұрын
I would outline it exactly as you outlined it to me and ask for his explanation. Based on his explanation, I'd determine whether to let it go or take it over his head (which is always a risk, but if the idea was important, it might be worth the risk).
@ladybaabaa32943 жыл бұрын
Omg, I am a very good "official" letter-writer, but I now realise I'm WAY too aggressive, accusatory and negative! I sprinkle condescention, sarcasm and belittlement amongst professional language. I'm also WAY too verbose. I tend to get really carried away and blab on and on, repeating myself. I know this reduces the intended impact and purpose of my correspondence, but...hmmm. I ALWAYS use "You stated", "You claimed" and "You advised". Oops! Oh, and I don't usually wait 24 hours. lol. Btw, the emails in question aren't related to a workplace. The owners corporation committee in my apartment building are...let's just say, problematic (aka, completely inept, arrogant, incompetent and negligent), and I've written various lengthy emails to them over the past year. At first, no one thought I wrote them myself and assumed I'd hired a lawyer. Ah...no. It's all me. Some people call me "The Prosecutor" and a friend jokingly calls me "Devil Woman" because he had no idea I had this side to my personality, due to my sweet, friendly and youthful persona. Anyway, thank you for this excellent and helpful information!
@TheWizardOfWords3 жыл бұрын
Lady Baa Baa, if you're "way too verbose" perhaps you should change your name to Lady Blah Blah. JUST KIDDING. If your emails work for you, keep them as they are but perhaps remove the aggression, accusations, belittlement and negative energy. Perhaps just stick to the facts? Would that work? Please don't tell me that if you did as I suggest you would have only punctuation remaining :)
@ladybaabaa32943 жыл бұрын
@@TheWizardOfWords Hahaha!!! You made me laugh! 😂😂 I actually call myself Lady Blah Blah sometimes. lol. Here’s a challenge: I said to 1 person in the small town I live in “actions speak louder than words”. Now the majority of “insults” I receive are actions. ex. my house has been damaged repeatedly by god know who so the local pharmacy now makes sure to line up an old damaged cart for me and then has old damages merch I usually purchase lined up. Yes they actually Stalk what I have bought in the past. I buy the new version but seriously you have to have a lot of free time and intent to do this sht. This is just one example but you get my gist. What to do w this type of passive aggressive behaviour?
@shashankkulkarni9932 жыл бұрын
Yes many bosses / coworkers / clients are full.of sacristic talks and fully of toxicity inside them.. Which makes people go away from them... Don't be sacristic to people based on there past life It show the person cheap characters if some one always sacristic to other person bullying him or her based on past. Sign of dirty humans .
