Madam Lee is admirable, she kept her faith all these year, outlive most of people her age. Went through a lot, and still stayed in the same place where she wanted to be. unlike some hypocrites who took a little beating and defected to the west.

You are only Partially right. There's a saying that've circulated in the Chinese martial art circle for centuries: the MAIN DIFFERENCE between Wudang and Shaolin is that Wudang focuses on INTERNAL martial arts and Shaolin is more on EXTERNAL martial arts, of course both schools contain the arts of the other to complement their martial art into a complete system.

@zigzigerblat Correct about the first part but not about the founder of Tao. Bodhidarma taught Yoga and Mahayana Buddhism to the monks...forming the basis for Shaolin martial arts. This Buddhism later combined with Taoism to form Zen Buddhism... The founder of Taoism is Lao Tzu from the 6th century BCE, which is around the same time that Buddha lived. There were already some pre-existing martial arts that was derived from Taoism. WuDang's history occurs thousands of years later

@zigzigerblat Most qi gongs are evolutions of yoga but some are distinct sects that were not influenced by Buddhism but existed since the days of the founding of Taoism.

May God bless master Yu. 😊 I remember the first time I met the master. I said Master what is your name? He said I am yu and I said no I am me who are you master? He said I told you I am Yu! And I said back to the master I said no you don't want to be me because I am the s**t!!!! 💩 The master said no don't say that about yourself that is bad. And I said no I'm not talking about bad not the s*** meaning bad but the s*** meaning good! 😂 May God bless all of Wu-Dang because I love the heart of Wu-Dang!!!!

Well in ancient chinese the term kungfu(gongfu in pinyin) means something achieved through hard effort and hard work.So therefore any chinese martial art can be referred to as kungfu,that includes taijiquan,baguazhang,wudangquan and all the rest.Although taijiquan is a softer form compared to shaolinquan for example,therefore it's classified as an internal martial art,but it could still be called kungfu.So don't get mad at people calling taiji kungfu,because it is achieved through hard work.

@igentertainment well yes and no. shaolin too has many internal styles apart from the external. there are over 120 styles in shoalin (not adding the rare styles). i train in traditional shaolin (not shaolin wushu) for over 8 years now. tai chi being an shaolin art is one of them amongst other styles

@zigzigerblat Aye, I don't mean official Tao martial arts, but 'fighting styles' associated with Taoism. There are various historical martial arts that aren't "based in Taoism" but draw influence from ideas such as yin yang, etc
@JimNagle87

This man seems to have missed the point of Taoism all together. "I want to be a God" "I want" "I want" - Taoism is not about "wanting" or forcing an outcome to happen...

they let men film their training and their forms. Why? a lot of masters dont permitt films or photo because if u want to see true martial art take the airplane and run to find a master, if u can.

Tao te ching is a book of rigerous philosophy. It is written in ancient chinese so nobody has authority on interpritation. I myself wouldnt consider tao te ching a religious book. taoism is less a religion and more a way of life. The beauty of Tao te ching is that it doesnt tell you what to do, or what to not do. It tells you that "doing things" itself is wrong, thus, no action.

Is this just Disney bullcrap or am I under the impression that Wudang doesn't show half of what they really know to Europeans? I've read one of Zhong Yun Long's (the current head priest) articles, and it mentioned forms I've never seen a European performing, such as the 8 Gates QiGong or Wudang Long Fist, which westerners should be able to learn, since master Zhong said that it's a basic style.

@oscie1 I actually removed my comment way before you answered. I did that because I realized it was not constructive. I still don't agree with you. But this is a difference in teaching. I perpetuate my father's teaching he received from Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang and it is probably a little modified. We go the other way, Jing to Chi to Shen. And I do teach Tai Chi. Sorry, but I don't think you're as knowledgeable as you may think you are. But some tui shou should settle this.
