Cross promotion. X Files would come on immediately on Sundays after Simpsons and King of the Hill back in those days. This Episode was the Simpsons Season Premiere that year and X Files was also insanely popular as well. But I like the fact that this Episode is a parody of the X Files, plus there are a ton of Pop Culture references (Steve Urkel, The Shining, Shamu/Sea World, Star Wars, Star Trek, Alf, Looney Tunes etc.) And a random Cameo by Lenoard Nimoy, but it dosent seem bloated. Its Freshly and cleverly written throughout the Episode. I miss stuff like that

I liked it when moe wasn't just ugly but also running a bunch of illegal operations in the back of the bar . I specially liked the parody of the "Deer Hunter " with the clown and the principal lmfao

low key, my favorite part is the way homer's voice cracks a little when he says "Like Urkel!"

I like how despite having 5 aliens in that lineup agent Mulder still gives his speech about knowing aliens must be out there, but he just wasn’t sure where yet.

Not being American, one misses a lot of references. The episode where Homer and Flanders become best friends had a scene where Homer wakes up sweating claiming he hates a guy named Ted Koppel, immediately after Ned wakes up claiming he hates Homer. The Latin American version has that name changed to Michael Jackson.
