His constantly quivering upper lip is such a great animation detail that adds so much character. Old season simpsons was really on another level with writing, visuals and voice acting all adding so much to the comedy. It's something you don't see in a lot of other cartoons

Fun fact: Phil Hartman was cast to voice Zap Branigan on Futurama but was killed before he could play the part. As a tribute to his late friend, Billy West (Fry, Zoidberg, Ren, Doug, etc.) took the part and always gave his best Phil Hattman impression when voicing Zap.

My favorite Lionel Hutz moment was cut from the episode but was thankfully featured on the 138th Episode Spectacular as a deleted scene... after defending Homer against the Devil and escaping thru the bathroom window, Mr. Hutz returns later holding a box of pizza and proclaims, "well, we lost the case, but here's your free pizza!" Marge informs him that they actually won the case and he replies, "that's okay, the box is empty."

The amount of genius in this 10 minute clip is literally beyond years of the new seasons. It's such a shame this show lost its spark, especially when a number of those writers are still alive.

I never got to watch old simpsons episodes until last year for the first time, this dude really stood out to me especially in the early seasons. Every time he showed up I would be laughing out loud, the voice acting is so funny
