So, i got a lil theory about Ember (First you have to know) (this is confirmed) According to one of the creators for the show, before she died, Ember was an unpopular high school-aged girl who had large dreams of becoming a rock star. One day a boy asked her out to the movies. She waited all night for him to show up, saying, "He's just running late." When morning came and he didn't show up, Ember went home. She was so exhausted that she fell asleep and didn't wake up when her house mysteriously caught on fire. She died in the flames, which possibly gave her the name "Ember." Her song "Remember" is most likely based on the above events prior to her death. Now comes the theory (Not confirmed) Did you ever wonder why Lancer got so angry during the episode? Think about this. Lancer is in his...lets say his late 30's early 40's. Looks about Right, Old enough to be old and out of touch to the kids, young enough to still remember his youth fondly. He becomes INCENSED at the Music from the music that took over the school? Why? Normally he's pretty into the fads or tech the kids were into? Why was Ember different? Lets take a look at Ember. Based on what the creators said she was a young girl who died in a fire after her crush stood her up. Based on her outdated slang we can kind of guess what time period she was from. Dipstick being a common term in the 70's. Her attire screams metal, but her songs suggest power ballads, popular in the 70's as well. She also seems rather fond of Amity Park focusing on this town despite the much larger and easier cities she could take over? Why? Perhaps she has an attachment to Amity Park.. and Casper High? Its already been stated that Lancer went to Casper High when he was a boy, and Ember has an attachment to it, directing her anger at him and the school. My theory, is that Ember McLain was a student at Casper High in the seventies at the same time as Mr. Lancer. Not only did they know each other, but Mr. Lancer was actually the boy that stood her up. The boy Ember based her song off of. The reason Mr. Lancer gets angry at her music is because it makes him remember his friend, and the guilt he felt after her tragic death. Conclusion: Mr. Lancer went to high school with Ember as a teen and she died after he stood her up, that's why he was so angry at hearing what he thought was a ripoff of his friend. He feels guilty for her death.
