I think this movie was my first introduction to Looney Tunes when I was a child. I remember really enjoying the animation and it used blow my mind like "How did they get the characters in real life??" lol

I just love the irony of how a BlueSky movie with a futuristic setting was overshadowed by another BlueSky movie franchise with a prehistoric setting.

Had put off watching this for years until I sat down this summer and watched a new episode every morning whilst eating breakfast. I enjoyed those Mission Hill mornings more than I can explain, and desperately wish I could watch them for the first time all over again. Easily my favorite when it comes to one-season wonders, MTV's Downtown being a close second.

Hey just found your channel and love it. I loved these movies as a kid but funny enough I remember being very confused when one of the Hex Girls said she was 1/16th Wiccan. I was aware of what Wicca was so for me my thoughts when that came up were. “How can you be 1/16th of a religion?”

Before I leave this comment, I want to clarify that I really appreciated this video as a clear-eyed, well-founded perspective on the show that offers something barely anyone online is willing to. I just wanted to try and contribute something to the conversation with my own take on something that was brought up in the video. One thing I would say in response to your point that "marginalized characters don't have to be perfect to be good representation" is that I didn't feel like the show was being very intentional when it came to actually presenting their shortcomings. Daphne kissing Velma is a good example of this to me, because it's an action that is never challenged or even really looked at deeply at all. It doesn't paint Daphne as a well-rounded queer teenager with realistic flaws, because (to hear the show tell it) these specific flaws (a pretty violent breach of consent) are not actually present. Daphne is being a *hero* in this moment; she initiates a moment of connection that is pivotal for both her and Velma's character arcs. Criticizing *this framing* is very different from criticizing her for being an "imperfect character who makes mistakes." That being said, it's definitely true that there must be room for representation of queer (or other marginalized) stories that are as messy or thoughtless as the ocean of hetero-normative WASP stories, which are equally as messy and thoughtless yet don't receive the same level of scrutiny. I wouldn't try to argue that *Velma* delivers a message about intimacy, consent, and mental health that is *less* tasteful than a lot of its peers and ancestors who focused on white, straight protagonists. But, at the same time, when I watched the show, its depictions of those themes (among many others) still struck me as being very unrealistic and kind of dangerous. I do think the show is open to criticism for that. Of course, I don't think this video is trying to say Velma is immune to criticism (quite the opposite!)

Just a couple nights ago, I hosted a movie night for the 1971 Cat in the Hat special and the 2003 Cat in the Hat film. Upon watching them, while I never considered either horror-adjacent, there is something people tend to forget about the Cat when comparing adaptations: the Cat was never meant to be a morally upstanding character. This is something that was forgotten in more recent adaptations, like The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, and even between the '71 and '03 versions in The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat. Both of these portrayed the Cat as well-meaning and far more innocent. In both the 1971 and 2003 films, both Cats are portrayed as being the good guy and worthy of sympathy. At least up until the ending. In both versions, he manages to get the attention of both of the kids, getting them to partake in his antics, though how willing they are depends on the version. But in both... well, let's just look at what he does in 1971 version. 1971: His immediate instinct is to intrude upon their house, while the mother is out. Krinklebine, objecting to this behavior, proceeds to be tormented by the Cat as he nearly kills the fish through magic bubbles. "Up, Up, Up, With a Fish!" Despite being willing to leave after this, he immediately comes back for his "Moss-Covered Three-Handled Family Gradunza", which not only does he accuse Krinklebine of stealing, but at the end it turns out he had it all along. He defaces everything and leads the kids to help him to try and find it. He then brings out the Things to clean up the mess he made, only for them to focus on torturing and attempting to kill Krinklebine. And every time his actions are pointed out, he breaks out in song to essentially manipulate the kids into sympathizing with him. While he attempts to teach different lessons in both versions, this doesn't sound too different from the 2003 version, now does it? The thing I'd say the 2003 version did better was provide genuine stakes and a slightly clearer moral compass for the Cat. He allowed all it to happen, in his own bizarre way, to teach them about being able to appreciate their mother more and be willing to take the blame for the better. And by them learning their lesson, rather than their mother just being on her way home, *that's* when he helps them. Not to get out of trouble, but to get the kids out of trouble as a favor.

God the one thing that hits about this song is how much of a mantra of it was through 2023. But what really did it in was when I met Anna at Disneyland this year. I told her about this song and how it helped pull me through. She told me “I’m glad you’re here to tell me this. If shows how strong you are.” I managed to not cry, but it was hard. Just to hear that from someone, that you’re still here despite one of the roughest years of my life, it was cathartic and relieving to hear you have someone, even if they were a complete stranger, in your corner….It’s why I still cry when listening to this song.

Love this movie! One of my favorite gags was Bugs’ old Out of Gas gag, where the flying spy car comes just short of crashing because it ran out of gas(toon logic). But then Jenna Elfman steps in with real logic, and causes the car to crash. Nice going Toots, lol 😂

The sad part is unless you watched the episodes when they aired or first year on adult swim, you never heard the original soundtrack till recently. All the videos on youtube have the dvd audio where the music is poorly mixed and are generic songs to fill the space of the licensed music removed. I have the original first printing of the dvd release in the cardboard box. I was a kid when this show aired and i remember riding my bike to best buy to get the dvd when it was released. This and Downtown(which i have the semi rare signed dvd set) have a chokehold on my childhood memories. I still put this on when i am drawing. The critic is another great show that didnt get time to really shine either.

Watched this flick and Treasure Planet last year as a double bill. I really liked them. And yeah, it’s weird how people get hung up on the financials of a film rather than the finished article. People got to get behind a “winning team” I suppose 🤷

Unlike Ben the Warlock, Simone, Jacques and Lena the cat people. Crystal and Amber were the only ones that the gang befriended that wasn’t evil supernatural but supernatural. I like that for change, didn’t like the whole ally pretending to be a friend or being kind just so they can used the gang for their own personal evil gain. It a great twist but it shouldn’t be overuse. I’m glad Crystal and Amber are not evil They may be aliens, but they’re not evil.

I enjoyed the while series, I even enjoyed the comic that came out of decade later, a glitch in time. Season 1 & 2 were peak Season 3 definitely was underwhelming, but I still enjoyed it It's unfortunate we never able to get a season 4, I know they would've cooked, Season 3 would have been better too if nickelodeon wasn't constantly fumbling all the time back then

I actually enjoyed this movie and found the Phantom Virus to be a very entertaining Villain. As for choosing a classic villain for each level I'd have the Spooky Space Kook on the moon level and this is where the gang discover that the monsters are real in the game, for the prehistoric jungle level I'd do the Pterodactyl Ghost, the Under Water level would have the Ghost of Captain Cuttler, the backyard level would have the Giant mantis, the Ancient Japan level would have the Dragon beast from the Scrappy-Doo era, the Mummy of Ankha for the ancient Egypt level, the Black Knight for the Medieval level, the Snow Ghost for the north pole and have Charlie the funland robot on the finale level. The Coliseum level is a bit tricky because aside from the Gladiator from the series of shorts focusing on Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy I can't think of a single villain from the classic Scooby-Doo shows that would be suitable for that level.
