One thing that wasnt mentioned in the breakdown was that wemby was in foul trouble during most of the second half so he couldnt be as aggressive as he wanted to against embiid leading to easy points. He will need to work on that in the next matchup between the two. Once again great breakdown of the matchup

As good as this game was I do think the refs and a minutes restriction robbed us of a better one on one match-up on the level of Giannis and Wemby. Victor getting 2 early fouls in the first 6 minutes changed how he was defending the 76ers, felt like he was contesting but not trying to block shots, which for him is unusual. And the refs were calling everything (on both teams) that imo killed the flow of the game. I'd be curious if there was a 3 minute stretch in the game without free throws.

@thomasrois7330
@thomasrois7330 11 ай бұрын
@@wokoloco- there is a big difference between no whistle for fouls at all or whistling everything. The hard part in the NBA compared to say NHL or NFL, is that you can actually foul out. And this impacts things on a whole additional level. I don't mind people getting to the line for ticky-tack fouls when the refs feel like its whistling-time. But the change in momentum due to your most important players having to dial it back whilst your opponents will dial it up to draw even more fouls, feels like game breaking. I like the FIFA/football rules a lot more: you can foul a lot, and if it is "bad", you get booked for it, which can only happen once a game or you're out. Pretty much like flagrants work. But there's no way you get fouled out for stupid incidental body contacts.

ive always said this about Embiid. He has the most well-rounded skillset in the league and is the archetype of a perfect big. Dominates the paint like Shaq, elite mid-range shooter, can step back for the three, elite free throw shooter, can pass the ball to the open man if double-teamed. If the guy gets a head of steam he is the most unstoppable player in the league offensively. Defensively he is a top rim protector, can guard the perimeter, etc. His only issue (and to be fair he has had a lot of bad luck) is his playoff performances and being able to show up big in big moments. He is missing that Kobe, Lebron, Jordan factor where he can create plays and shots in high pressure situations and knock them down.

Zach is hardly trash because he got owned by Embiid. The mf averages 35 points, he owns practically everyone every night. Zach though was supposed to be a stretch 5 with passable everything else. He is passable at everything but the stretching part is a disaster. i expected a poor man’s BroLo, but the 3’s have regressed too much to play with Wemby. Now he is a less defensive Poetl that takes and misses 3’s.

You point out when the 76's premier player is in the paint and 2 players from the SA SPURS can't stop him as basically a WOW moment!!! When Wemby does it it's because there was no one one to defend him!!! Wow talk about a (1) sided VOOOw!!! UBLW.

You can learn a great player's tendencies but a 7 footer who is quick, can face up and shoot the lights out, overpower you in the post, or drive to finish at the rim like he's a guard, is just too many options for a defense to contend with unless you wana leave guys with wide open looks and live with double/triple teams in the middle of the floor that he will see coming and easily pass out of
@HoopVenue

Big problem is that once bigs come up to contest, they aren’t quick enough to take away his drive without fouling. You’d rather him shoot a pull-up middie than FTs or a dunk, really makes you “pick your poison”

Embiid is dangerous with elbows aiming his oponent's faces, his shoulders impacting sternums and his knees hitting testicles. His dirty way of playing includes self victimizing as soon as he is touched, and, of course, he exagerates any action against him. He's just taking advantage of anti defense rules. In the 90's he would have had no chance against Rodman.

This is horrible NBA basketball. The I.Q. is really low and the defense is loose. When all the 2015-2025 super stars leave, Wem might be like wilt chamberlain playing against little boys. Just look at all those clips. Ain't nobody touching nobody. Zero pressure most of the time. NBA is wack. College basketball has more pressure even with the allowed zone. A wembly wouldn't be able to do any of this in the NBA past with the body checks. The NBA is watching a pickup game where everybody is afraid to get hurt or something. Waaaaaaack!! Embiid weight alone is going to move furniture. Wemby is like that skinny lamp post sitting in the corner of your room. lol. Just body him. Put the heaviest guy on him and keep him out the paint.
