So most of the conclusions were about difference in front wheel size and geometry rather than about the travel question. I know this is all interesting stuff but this missed the key point in my view. Bigger travel is obviously better in hefty downhill situations, especially when you come across a surprise big feature. But is there a compromise going up hill?? There is a massive trade off on manual bikes, but does the bigger travel bike lose out on a range of climbs...?

Its quite simple. If you don't ride a lot of bikepark a mullet 150mm bike is for you. If you do ride a lot of bikepark then 27.5 front and back is ideal. And when I say bikepark here I mean bikepark downhill 😀 making this clarification as me and my friend ride the bikepark DH tracks uphill during off hours when the lifts are not running 😀

Most people looking to get into mountain biking would be well suited for a Trail bike or all-mountain if your local trails are a bit more gnarly.. so around 130-150mm front and rear. Will let you do the most types of riding. Most people are 'over-biked' with too much suspension, which can make riding less 'extreme' trails not nearly as fun, even laborious and sluggy.

Maybe you guys could refer to auto racing for an analogy. What's the difference in performance capability between an F1 car, which has almost zero suspension travel, and a Baja racer, which might have more than a foot of travel? Put either of those racers on the other track and they will be humiliated. More travel is not an "upgrade", but it seems that many guys on the forums think it is.

@Celeon999A
@Celeon999A 3 жыл бұрын
@@grantallan8495 Go for a trail bike with travel around 130 to 160 mm front and back. Trail bikes are THE do-it-all bikes you are looking for. You can do XC with them, go enduro and even some DH is not a problem for them. Basically only DH bikes are truly hyper specialized and only good for DH and nothing else. There is only very little difference between a trail and an enduro bike up to the point where even Pros struggle to actually explain the difference. Enduros have a little more travel these days (170 to 180) 27.5 or 29 inch wheel size is pretty much your choice and a sole matter of preference, frame sizing will take care of your body height.

I would like to mix those bike's together to one bike, taking the slackest short chain stay bike and put on the 27,5 wheel's and the thicker fork , but I would like the fork for 29 even with 27,5 wheel's so it gets longer and has option to go mullet,, that would make it even slacker then it is now and put on the best Brakes,,i have levo fsr 29 but it wasn't the bike i wanted i began saving for the previous model that LEVO 6fattie that had 27,5 plus sized Tyres and when it wasn't in the online catalog i pointed to the kenevo with 2,8 tyres it was the cheapest emtb from specialized in 2018/2019 and told the store that I would be happy with any of the bike's just not the one with the ugly green color....a week later I stopped by the store to check if the Bike had come and they Said it's here but you shouldn't be so excited about it,,i started to wonder if it had broken or something in the shipment but no it was the only bike i said i wouldnt be so happy about the one in a very ugly neony kinda yellowish Green color.. they said i could have it six thousand Norwegian thousand cheaper (alot of money) to make me happy..so I got it for 4000 Dollars approximately .now I wanna mullet it and get a dropper on the Brakes is good sram 203mm ! But I want the magura 220mm in the front and move the four piston front caliper to the back where The two Piston caliper is now ,,i dont Think it's really needed but I still want to..and I really want a fat fork..and a dropper I'm tired of riding with too low seat it's so difficult to move up and down so I just left it slammed! The thing is all the upgrades i want is enough to buy a decent emtb here like the ghost Kato (3300 euro approximately or 34000nok) Ohh thanks for reading my book of a comment....

Specialized make great products for sure, but these Husky's are well made, reasonably priced, and there are lots of different options for builds for consumers to chose from.
