At Duolingo, we make learning fun! But we couldn't do it without our colorful cast of characters. In this talk, we'll share the story of how we've used Figma to illustrate and build a design system around our Duolingo World Characters, and how we use that system to bring our character-driven brand into the hands of our product designers. We'll cover why our characters are important to our product and brand, and how we illustrate, design, and build systems in Figma with characters in mind. We'll also share case studies of how we've baked our brand into our product, as well as tap into our learnings from working with this system and how it has impacted what will come next.
