A perfect feature is designed, the user flow on Figma is set up and the deliverables are pixel-perfect. But what happens when the almost-unthinkable occurs: a user with an unusually large thumb uses their smartphone on the night of a full moon-the Internet connection is unstable, and then they accidentally drop their phone into the toilet while pressing the button. We like to focus on the positive paths in the world of feature development. And when it comes to edge cases, it feels like something that would only happen in a parallel universe. However, in reality, these things are occurring all the time. In this talk, I'll share my experiences with an example of a simple voting feature that turned out very complex. I'll describe how we identify, design, and develop solutions when we stumble upon edge cases just like these during the feature development process.
