I'm epileptic and in Denmark where I live, you're allowed to drive again after a year without seizures. Maybe he hasn't had one in a few years. But yeah, even though I'm allowed to drive, I choose not to. I've had countless broken bones, dislocations, stitches, and operations because of this shit, the last thing I need is a car crash to top it off

In the US you can drive after 6 months seizure free but you need paperwork from your doctor in order to have a valid driver’s license. I can’t believe he can drive with the seizures he’s had.

The rule In Australia is no driving for 6 months after a seizure, it happened to my sister. It may vary from state to state.

My sister in law drives very little in the US because she’s afraid of having one, even though it’s been years since her last seizure.

For everyone having a crack at Michelle for her fear of needles and blood you would be amazed at how many medical professionals are frightened by the sight of blood as you become more used to it the sight of it won’t horrify you once she’s had more time in nursing school she will probably learn to cope and deal with her fears

My aunt (a pediatric nurse) is scared of needles and blood. It’s worse when it’s someone she cares about. But she also was the one to jump in the medical waste (stupid idea we all know this) to get a stuffed animal for a child. She stayed by my side and changed dressings and loads of stuff from various injuries and car accidents.

I appreciate that Michelle does not blame the horse for her accident. She should consider another career, though! The guy with the seizures should not be allowed to drive, his daughter and others could have been killed!

I don’t agree. I’m also a nursing student and for a year and a half I also had a extreme blood and needle phobia. My school and classmates were very supportive and I worked with a therapist to slowly overcome this fear. If it’s my blood or a needle going into me I’m still scared, but anything to do with patients doesn’t bother me anymore. It’s very possible to overcome, as silly as it sounds!

@@makenzieward9147 Same boat with the needle phobia, it is much easier when the needle end isnt facing me though. And if you think about it it makes you more cautious of sharps injuries, still haven't gotten one yet but definately would have if I wasnt so cautious.

I disagree. I used to pass out at the thought of significant amounts of blood. I just finished up my 6th year working in intensive care, doing all sorts of things I never imagined I'd be capable of. Nursing has desensitised me significantly over time.

Totally disagree! I’m afraid of needles directed at me…but was a paramedic for many years. I had no issue with sticking someone else or even seeing gruesome trauma.

Ridiculous to say Michelle can’t be a nurse because of her fear of needles. I was a paramedic for many years. I had no problems poking patients or seeing horrific injuries. I’m afraid of needles…more specifically, local anesthetic. This past February, my dogs leash tore my ring finger off at the middle joint. I was so thankful the emergency room GP listened to me without making me feel like an idiot when I told them I didn’t want to know they were putting a local anesthetic in the base of my finger. They already knew the injury was excruciating and immediately gave me versed. I don’t remember any of it. They did reattach my finger but it failed and was taken off 6 weeks ago and healed very well. A fear of needles directed at oneself is quit different that using needles on someone else.

For Michelle, there are topical numbing meds that are applied with a swab, then they could inject her.

Michelle said she wanted to be a school nurse because of her fear of blood and needles. I wouldn't want her as my child's school nurse. My son's have all ended up in the nurses office bleeding over the years and they benefitted from a calm, together school nurse! I can't imagine how some of those visits would have gone with a phobic nurse.

My 9 year old had the finger nerve block twice, with no pain relief 😅 he didnt even cry. He detatched the nail from the nail bed and was stitched up in the ed

The sad thing is, the horse would be horrified about causing her so much pain. Horses do experience guilt. Michelle can't be a nurse. What was her school counselor thinking? She lives a life of fear.

I can attest that the horse , if it IS thinking about Michelle is merely hoping that it shall be fed on time . I'm a European Government Licensed Trainer/ instructor , clinician , consultant I caution you that horses do not have the same cognizant abilities as a human .

My guess is that he’s never admitted to having seizures to anyone until this accident. I lived in Australia, when I was young, and it’s super hard to get a drivers license. I’ve never known anyone in the US to fail their drivers test but most of the people I knew in Australia had failed theirs a couple of times. 😂 You also have to have a special license plate for the first year that tells everyone else on the road that you’re a new driver.

@@justiceforsavi You don't have a different license plate, but rather 'L' or 'P' plates that you stick on. L stands for learner, and at least in NSW is a black L on a yellow background. You have to stay on your Ls for a year, and do 120 driving hours, with a full license holder with you at all times. After you pass the driving test, you then go on to your red Ps, which means you can drive unaccompanied, but still have a 90kmph (not mph) speed limit and other restrictions. After you've had that for a year, you can go on to your green Ps with a fair bit more freedom (100kmph speed limit). You have to have them for two years before you can get your full license.

You’d be surprised how many doctors and nurses actually hate the sight of certain things it takes time but people will develop a desensitisation to the sight of blood and honestly seeing your own blood can be nauseating so it’s not a representation of if she will last

I’m a vet nurse and can’t deal with the sight of my own blood but am perfectly fine dealing with my patients. I also had a needle phobia when I first started but now I’m 10yrs in and it’s completely gone now! She will be able to overcome it in time and exposure!

They do it because initially assessing that area would give them an indication if they actually need to scan the area further more if a patient had a big cut or something well you won’t see that on the scan so you need to roll them and assess if there are any injuries there that they need to look for that’s why they press and roll them on the side

I don't like needles even though I would say I have had injections in my spine that many times I forget, I have had needles to draw off fluid etc, epidural steroid injections and inject dye into my spine prior to back surgery. I wouldn't say blood and I are best friends but if I needed to help someone who was bleeding etc I would be able to cope, although might pass out or be shaking once adrenaline wore off. If she doesn't like blood then how does she cope every month with her period. 😂 I don't think anyone would say they love needles but I think she should rethink her career choice.
