Great idea. Like the bags. We are really not doing much at this point with the current state. Just riding it out. Thanks for the share.

Excellent tutorial. Thank you :-) We were already in the process of setting up our food garden and long term food storage when this crazy hit, but I've not seen these storage bags before. Every tip helps us achieve our long term self sufficiency goals.

Hello friend! What a great video.. Mylar food bags are a great thing to keep around. We use these for rice, beans, dehydrated fruits..all kinds of things. Good for a "trail mix" too! Thanks friend! Blessings!

I've always kept my extra food (pasta, beans, oats) in dark jars in my pantry. I'm used to having hurricanes, tropical storms, etc this way I'm assured we have food which we enjoy no matter what

Just Mona, that's a great idea to have some emergency food. Keep safe and have a good week

@@explorer867 When I lived in Missouri I had a tendency to do things your way of sealing my food and putting it heavy plastic containers down in the basement & root cellar. In Clinton, where I lived, we were more likely to get snowed in or have the possibility of tornadoes. The cellars were a safe bet due to weather conditions. The East coast doesn't have that type of protection against weather. Y'all stay safe!!!

Great presentation Explorer867. I'm curious as to why you used the hair iron to seal the bags instead of the seal a meal ? The vacuum sealer would remove the oxygen and seal the bag. Using a oxygen absorber plus vacuum pack should do the trick.
@explorer8674 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, the seal-a-meal is good for dealing with the plastic proprietary bags made for them. I have found through experience that the oxygen absorbers absorb the oxygen in the bag and you get a much better seal using the iron. Stay safe and healthy and thank you for your comment.

This is interesting. I have never seen this type of food storage. Looks like a good system. Do you have some kind of underground bunker to store it in?
@explorer8674 жыл бұрын

@@explorer867 Lol, wonder how it works for toilet paper ... Seriously though, I may want to look into this when things calm down, to be more prepared for next time. I never thought we would not be able to buy flour whenever we want to. It's crazy. God bless you my friend, and I do appreciate the info.
