Today (7/10) in New York City, we had three separate incidents of people hit by subway trains within 3 hours. This is not unusal.

Hey I dont want to sound rude but why so many ambulances for a patient that isnt going to survive anyways? Isnt being hit by a train basically game over? But hopefully the patient survived.
@ViperUKАй бұрын
There's always a chance the patient survives, and there are occasions where that has happen. Specialists such as the Hazardous Area Response Team are called to such incidents where they are trained to deal with rescuing people in confined or difficult situations.

It seems a lot of resources just for 1 person....

The thing is that its not just one person. Yes, only one person is hit by train probably, but there are many people using the Underground which means a lot of people can be shocked from seeing it, and they also need to do crowd control to close the station etc.

A common misunderstanding of what Air Ambulances do in the UK is that people think their job is to fly the patient to hospital as quickly as possible. It's actually the opposite, it's to fly a Critical Care team of Doctors & Paramedics to the patient so they can provide care usually only done in hospital, giving the best chance of survival
