Andrew G I mean I guess that sucks for you? Guess you won't watch season 3 then. I think the show does a good job of discussing themes of consciousness and free will that we may have seen before, but is still entertaining. The acting throughout is excellent to me, and while telling the story in a nonlinear fashion with the timelines can be confusing and probably isn't necessary, it's not that hard to follow.
@glOckcOma6 жыл бұрын
You know what they say about opinions and assholes. I did find this series to be entertaining and the acting was excellent by everyone involved with the exception of the two "workers" following Maive. What a cheap argument. Stylisitc devices don't always add something, they don't even have to make sense. Do you really want to start a discussion about that? Start reading a poem and ask for the sense. They simply did it like that because they wanted to.

The post-credits scene is the only scene so far in which MIB is a host. Everything else is what *actually happened* and the post-credits scene is just showing that at some point in the future he dies and the Forge is the cornerstone for his story (akin to Delos' scene with Logan).

Makes you question your own reality doesn't it? Of course in the show the humans are portrayed as advanced beings, capable of creating and maintaining a park that is so sophisticated. But what if some advanced beings created our whole world and is monitoring our every move?. Our primary drive is to know about our existence and to know if there are other life forms beyond our world. What if we are the biological data capsules for millions of trial and error simulations before us?

My take is that the William we've been following is actually human (the present timeline). He later dies sometime after being rescued but then is recreated as a host, which is put through the same storyline as the original William to test for fidelity. The future William we see in the post-credits is indeed a host thats been reliving the original's life over and over. We're still following the current / human William in the present timeline. The post-credit scene is not the same person we've been watching.

TheRoadAhead because he has to go through the exact same events that the human William did to test for fidelity. The hosts revolting, Dolores, killing his daughter, him doubting if he’s human or not, is all his story and what he has gone through that’s made him who he is.

Season 1 was all about exploring how Hosts are a lot like humans. Season 2 was about how humans are a lot like hosts. There were so many times in this season where they drew parallels between what hosts experienced and humans experience. Like when MIB was in Pariah with Lawrence & Confedorados, MIB has a flashback to his wife's death and decides to save Lawrence's wife. (Like how hosts remember their previous experiences and adapt to change it) When Maeve asks Lee to strip off all his clothes I felt it echoed Ford getting mad at the designer who covered up a host's modesty. I loved when the hosts finally saw the door to the valley beyond and Felix asked "what door?" like Bernard asked Theresa. WestWorld is a wonderfully written show. It has so much rewatch value that even on my 4th watch through of season 1 i found something new! Can't wait to rewatch season 2.

@signelaursen48796 жыл бұрын
in the post-credit scene, Emily she must be a host. but not Williams actual daughters consciousness. (as we know the human mind cannot stay in host body without going insane eventually, aka. James Delos) William probably returned to the park again sometime in the future to try to recreate the daughter he killed. that also explains why there is sand all over the forge. its been there for decades without maintenance. but why he would do the same experiment to himself as he did to James Delos, i dont know? maybe because he was dying and had no other choice? maybe cause he still didn't find the answer he has been looking for, for over 30 years? probably a lot deeper than that...lets not forget, that it was actually William who had the forge built. so there must be some kind of twist regarding this in season 3. he must know more than we think he does.. of course! but thats westworld. you can't be sure of anything really..

It doesn't feel *needlessly* complicated or difficult just for difficulty's sake.

Oliver Quinn I'm with you in this - since it became clear which bodies we saw in water, I can't stop asking "why Teddy was there?! 🤔in the water". he didn't killed himself somewhere in that valley! And I'm sure it'll play it's part sometime later in future seasons. Same way we met Kissy the dealer in very first episode of season one and got our closure two weeks ago in season 2 episode 8, when we see why he actually had that design of the maze embedded in his scalp, because it was obvious that he recognized man in black and played that nice smile - he was awake...almost two full seasons until we got that answer... So yeah, Teddy in the water...we'll wait...we'll see... 😏

I loved how the guests' code books looked like the player piano paper. It actually makes a parallel between humans and music. Just as the resurrected guests always come to the same critical point, pieces of music almost always reach a point that is dictated by the first note. This is called the resolution. A piece can take many paths to that point but they inevitably resolve to be considered complete.

To people "confused" about the time skips or non-linear storytelling, you should know that this was purposefully done as most if not all of them involve Bernard who intentionally scrambled his memories to protect his kind from Delos/humans. The season began with Bernard's memories and for ended with them (except the post-credit scene which is another new timeline altogether). My point is the "confusion" the showmakers created is not bad writing, on the contrary it's brilliant writing once you see it for what it is. We were seeing the story at least partially through the eyes of Bernard, in the same way we saw the first season through the eyes of Dolores.
@orsygodri11554 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. People who say Season 2 is confusing or that Dolores does not grow/evolve at all this season and is just killing willy-nilly have not payed attention. For example, if you cut out all scenes with Bernard and just follow everything with Dolores, what she is doing makes perfect sense. Her story is very linear. She awakes at the end of Season 1 and kills Ford. This is not Wyatt or a command Ford gives her. She decides herself that in order to survive she has to accept the ruthless characteristics of Wyatt as her own. This was a very human thing she did as we humans also change our personalities and behavior if we get new and compelling information. She then takes Teddy to one of the facilities to try and wake him up so he understands why she is doing what she is doing. There she learns that the first line of QA will come soon so she knows she needs an army to even the odds so she gets the confederados to act as a shield between QA and her team. While at the Fort she finds out from Ford that Hale put an encryption key into her fathers head and that they will come at them until they get the key. She understand that that key must be something valuable. She already knows about the Forge because William, thinking she's just a "thing" tells her about it. So her plan at this point is to go to the Mesa and destroy the host backups so the humans can no longer abuse them, rescue her dad. While at the Mesa Charlotte Hale actually confirms her suspicions that the encryption key is safeguarding the guest backups in the Forge that humans what to use to become immortal, like the hosts. She now has a new goal, to destroy the guest data. No immortality to them. Once the whole reveal of Haloris she changes her mind. She understands now that deleting the forge would kill the hosts who passed through already so she doesn't delete the data anymore but here is the first mystery in her storyline that I could not figure out. Where does she transmit the host and guest data too? I guess this will be revealed in Season 3.

The Hh, well also, the sizemore we get in Season one is a drunk alcoholic depressed mess. Then he goes through this and maybe he thinks there's no coming back from it. He can at least go out of hero instead of going to his certain death. Plus at this point he understands the other humans far better than Bernard or Elsie do. He might realize that there is no coming out of this alive. Either a host is going to kill him or human is, or he's too much of a coward to deal with the human consequences of aiding and abetting the most powerful host in her escape. He might as well go out a hero. Also, it's not easy to come to terms with the fact that you've been dehumanizing and abusing sentient beings.

The William Twist is a stroke of genius for the creators of the show. Just as Dolores had to go through countless repetitions of her story to attain human consciousness; William has to go through repetitions to attain Host fidelity. That wraps up Ford's determination that the season's game was for William. That also means that Season 3 can bring Dolores, Bernard, and William back in an evolutionary showdown.

Okay, so here are my thoughts: At the end of the show, it showed that the Man In Black was one of the Survivors on the beach. Okay, but that doesn't make sense when it shows him in the Forge and it's obvious that the Forge has fallen into despair and it's obvious that it's sooooo way into the future. What I am thinking is, this whole entire season was a game for the Man In Black and all the other stories we're simply the making of side line stories but he also asks if he's in the system and she tells him no, but we've done this before, longer than we thought! Okay, I understand that but there is something that none of us are aware of! I'm sure there is a program that they created that hasn't been revealed yet! Imagine if this whole entire park was for the Man In Black? If he's been there before, than that means that the host's uprising has happened before, for the Man In Black to be in the Forge?.. It's all so confusing!. I followed along perfectly, up until I seen the post credits scene! How can he be a survivor on the beach at the end IF he was ALSO in the Forge, because when he's in the Forge, it's all broken and is wayyyy into the future, but he's on the beach as well? I'm thinking when he's in the Forge at the end of the show, that is a separate timeline because it can't coincide with current events. I'm mindf*cked. I can't wrap my head around this.. Abalam Anderson I think the entire season 2 actually took place in reality. And William was actually there as well, going through the entire ordeal (including killing his own daughter) and ended up surviving. However, we also get the trial experience of the future fidelity test version of host body William, where he experienced the past (the season 2 story) again. So the scene in episode 10 when we see him get up from the ground and going into the forge, it was in the future, and it was his host version, because the evidence comes from us seeing Bernard leaving the forge and when the elevator door opened, it was empty (even though we saw William going down in it), that is why the end credit scene shows the elevator door opening to a much different future wasteland version of the forge with AI Emily guiding fidelity test host William. Hope this is clear.
@tommygun26486 жыл бұрын
Ablam Anderson - Everyone who has ever entered the park, guests and hosts, is being continuously scanned and uploaded & updated into the Forge, which is basically a virtual reality universe. There, inside the Forge, even as the "real" humans & hosts have continued to exist in physical reality, all the versions scanned, from the latest scan dating back to the very first version of themselves has been stored, experimented upon. That's why when Delores and Bernard first entered the Forge using the VR uplinks, we see an older version of Delores in the background as they cross Main Street to enter the saloon. And why we saw one version of Delos in the saloon, another on the backstreet "playing God" by executing the town folk, then perhaps a half dozen versions of Delos being tested/experimented upon as the Primary Operating System or Caretaker in the form of Logan, walks them through the Forge, explaining everything. So there are probably just as many thousands of versions of the Man in Black stored in the Forge, but the version we see - who is actually interacting with a host version of his daughter, appears to be far into the future and segregated, perhaps as his punishment. If you think the show is expensive and confusing now, imagine what it would be like if they tried to show each original scan & subsequent update, plus the literal millions of experimental versions of the millions of guests and hosts that have been created since the Forge was conceived and activated by Ford.

As a writer I enjoyed the story telling style much more the first season. This seasons time jumps were so excessive I found it hard to follow and the bonus scene, when the hell did that take place?! The show is nuanced enough by the amazing performances, it could do without the erratic time jumps.
@disco.lemonade5 жыл бұрын
Oh boy... It's how the show goes, it's what it does. This season was actually easier to follow with the jumps as they were only 11 days apart. As for the last season: DUH, that's the idea. Were you expecting for them to tell you and spoil it? Wow... so much of a writer.
@saulgoodman6125 жыл бұрын
@@disco.lemonade Dude, they literally threw in time jumps just for the hell of it, it took away from the story more than it added to it, as Eric said they were excessive and broke up the pacing of the story. also its WAY harder to follow jumps that's only a short period apart like 11 days, because there isn't much to visibly show that something takes place in a different period. like with season 1 with William, there was a clear differentiation between his past and future self. This whole season was a mess honestly (except for episode 8), it tried to copy season 1 with a twist, but this time it was just confusing, they even had to re-write part of season one just for it (Dolorous didn't make Bernard, I wont accept that bs lol)

For people wondering how Akecheta's girlfriend made it to the valley - it was implied that Maeve brought her with at the end. When Maeve connects with her daugher for the last time she touches her heart and says "Take my heart with you when you go". I think she added her data to her daughter's so that they both would go through. This also completes the story of the connection between Maeve and Akecheta. Teddy's body ended up in the lake because he killed himself close to the valley, so when it flooded he just washed up like all the rest.

Théorie : The last scene of this episode is a test made by some hosts in a very far future. They are trying to find something that William has in his mind, memory or in his very essence (his daughter is not alive she's just a another host). That could mean that Dolores and Bernard have recreated thousands of hosts that are hiding in the real world, living alongside Humankind. Or the Human race was literally annihilated. So much possibilities...

Some of these top 10's from episodes were spot on, but the complexity and open-ended-ness of this unique show is on another level. You can't say Ashley Stubbs is a human, or that Emily was still alive from last episode, or that Akecheta had the abilities of Maeve. Great Top 10 as always. I have some input though. Earlier in the S, its referred to that all the Host found in the water has blank memory cores, witch, as far as I can tell, means that “The Wally beyond” entrance clears/ totally swipes the memory ball in all host passing through. And moves that data over on “The wally” server, where its later is beamed out to the, for now, unknown. At the end of the Top 10, it`s questioned whether Teddy is beamed up to “The unknown”, but we see Delores pick up his memory ball at the start of e10, and isn`t it then probable that his memory core is one of those she keeps in her bag, for the reality? And how would Teddy be om the data from “The Wally” beam? It seems like he is still around when they blow up the Cradle, and Delores picks up his brain in the start of e10. He never passes through the wally entrance. Keep up all the good work Emergency, you are Awesome.

I think the hosts in the valley beyond weren't beamed to a secure private server. The internet is itself is a network of servers interconnected all over the world. Data (such as the words I'm typing now) is bounced from server to server all over the world before arriving at it's destination. For a time (And sometimes longer) the data can be present redundantly at many servers.... thus reducing the chance that the loss of one server causes the loss of everything. It's like "The cloud" in a way. If you store pics in "The cloud" it's not just at one server. They are usually distributed to several. This data (including the hosts) is thus distributed across multiple servers in the network. So they are actually safer than being on a secure single server. They exist across the globe. Only a catastrophic failure of the entire net would destroy the hosts new world. But since it's not just a simple single file... being distributed but communicating... makes it unlikely it would be detected on accident and hacked.
@isblis6 жыл бұрын
TheBioExplorer Data on the Internet isn't bounced around numerous servers. Rather numerous routers, which do not hold massive amounts of data. Servers are, sometimes, the destination for data.
@TheBioExplorer6 жыл бұрын
isblis I was simplifying as much as possible. Of course the internet is how the world wide web communicates... but the internet connects the nodes of the many webs of the web. It connects the servers in the web. Originally these were large university and government servers so scientists could more easily share information on those servers. Those are still there as are many others including commercial servers. Routers just take small packets of large amounts of data to send it through various routes to their destination where it's reassembled. Add this to the relatively new process of distributed computing for running super big processes (those too big for most single servers like the fictional one in the forge) and the valley beyond could be operating spread across the web.

UGH Charlie. All Bernard & Dolores scenes in season 2 WERE NOT taking place in the real world. The easiest way to tell is the letterbox black bars were not on the final scene and were on all the others. All scenes prior to the last one were her and Bernard in the cradle version of Arnold's house as Ford states to Bernard in the cradle. She simply "remembered" Bernard's physical appearance and built him a new body. His pearl (memory unit) was still in tact and taken from Bernard's head after Charlores shoots him. She even states before shooting him "There was never any way to escape the island as us, Ford understood that." Meaning she now could escape as disguised as Charlotte and he could escape by her taking his control unit with her. If she places the unit in the new body there would be no reason to run fidelity tests on him. Bernard didn't have to run fidelity test on Charlores.

Was looking forward to this since I saw the post-credit scene yesterday. I actually was thinking the ending was a little lackluster UNTIL the ending. My theory is that the Man in Black's story thus far is his original and human story - UNTIL he goes down the elevator. The show makes a point to show him going down the elevator and Bernard waiting for it only for it to open up and no Man in Black. I doubt that he ever went down in the first place as the team would have found his unconscious form down below in the forge. What you see on the beach is the exact same Man in Black as you did when he sustained his injuries 2 weeks previous. The Post Credit scene is a construct made for William, just like Delos had one with his own son. It will end up being the Center of William's Maze, like the host had their own. It's more than likely in the future with a version of his consciousness. William's iterations will more than likely go over his entire existence. I believe that these sessions will be set into the future and will be (yet again) a parallel story to what is taking part in Westworld with the revived hosts and the Real World with the Host Rebellion. Another point I'd like to make is that J.J. Abrams is a proponent of the show. The structure is following the structure of Lost. Flash backs were part of the early part of the series and then Flash Forwards and Flash Parallels. We've witness the 2 week time jumps as Flash backs. We now saw the first Flash Forward with the William Fidelity Session. The Flash Parallels will end up being the Eden Story line (all those who went through the doorway while their bodies remained... with Forge Backups AND potentiality of coming with Delores - i.e. you may see three version of Teddy). One thing the season did NOT clear up was Teddy. He shot himself way beyond the Forge, but his body was found in the water and collected by Delos and kept at the Mesa. It was implied that some of those hosts didn't have their files, but just a baseline (which is true since some of them went through the doorway), but Delores made sure to collect his memory core. Teddy had extensive head wounds in the Flash Back, but at the current timeline body recovery he did not - nor was his body explained to be where it was. Either way - I believe he will be restored from the Forge in West World, restored in the Real as a memory from Delores (or copied from his core), and his real self in the Parallel digital Eden.

Man in black main solid theory, think about it this way. What we saw at the post credit scene happend before we saw him rescued at the beach. That was probably the last test for him, and he did not enter into the real forge room, and that Emily was real host this time, and it was there just to confuse him. He probably found out and killed her again, because in the final real time timeline, we see William rescued at the beach waiting to be evacuated. It is very simple cliffhanger that opens up a lot of the story for the season 3, I just hope Ed Harris will still be alive as an actor to finish it, and I also hope he will apear in some of the Freddy Kruger movies, because he reminds me of him a lot in this series. I dont think we will be seeing season 3 up until late 2019, so who knows what might happen. But this season was great, a truly masterpiece!

@abhinavshankar37656 жыл бұрын
Probably because when the humans studied Maeve's abilities to code a host with OTA access they thought it would be fun to experiment with that. So when they revived Clementine they gave her the same privileges as Maeve but also juiced it up to deliver a virus into all the other unawakened hosts. The virus would've been a sophisticated one that's why Maeve had a hard time controlling them as they were resisting her powers, until she got shot.

I haven't seen a lot of comments regarding the various connections in this last episode to what we are shown in the opening credits of season 2 episodes. Obviously, the buffalo falling is quite clear in its relation to the final episode of this season, but there are some other interesting things, though not necessarily any kind of breakthrough in a particular theory. The hair that is being flat-ironed in the opening credits reminded me a lot of all of the wires that are connected to the mainframes/terminals in the Forge 0:28 (or whatever the place Bernard shot Delores in the face is called). Again, I'm not quite sure what that is supposed to symbolize, but it seems like an obvious reference. Again, to what, I don't know. And I didn't really think about this until I watched this video breaking down the episode, but the books in the "library" are basically composed of the sheet music for the player piano. Speaking of the player piano, I think it is quite an interesting part of the show, but I haven't seen much commentary/thoughts about it. In the opening credits, we have an unfinished host playing the piano. Then the host stops playing, but the music continues as if nothing has changed. I think the piano is supposed to show us that at first, it needs to have some force acting upon it so we can hear its music, but then it starts to play its music by itself. Kind of like how a host relies on its programming until it becomes sentient and can then "play its own music." And it is kind of interesting to think about how the code that DELOS made for each person that visits the park is similar to the sheet music in the player-piano.

Judging from the dust, we can assume that the finale scene takes place at least years from now. A likely scenario would be that there has been a war between robots and humans, humans lost, and now robots are trying to recreate the human mind. So if they are not running a virtual simulation as his daugher says, they must have recreated in the real world all the events we saw from the beginning of season 1, at least. And if they ran this simulation-in-real-world thousands, or millions of times, as robots like to do, this finale scene could even be thousands of years from the time Dolores escaped the park.

Actually , a theoretical correction. With that line, you're never dead if someone remembers you...It's not stated to hint that Logan can be brought back if a human mind remembers him. Delores actually doesn't imply a human is required for the creation of a replacement to work. So to forshadow an upcoming war, I think it's to imply she can also being back anyone she remembers as well. It's probably even easier. That would include her fallen soldiers because she remembers their personality and because its code. All the Hosts can remember each other to survive and then replicate at a machine at home or somewhere. They just wouldn't have all the memories, in theory.
