Cleaning the chassis a little before taking a look at the resistors and capacitors that will need to be replaced during the restoration process.

With modern components, that set will have so much space in it afterwards! That is a compact layout for sure. Glad it wasn't rusty and cleans up fairly easily.

Yep, it’s tight and hard to keep things neat in such a small space. All capacitors (less mica) and resistors are now replaced. Just working on the heater string voltage solution. Best, Don

Yup, a total resistor and capacitor change out. Really not many components to change out. The chassis looks to be in pretty good shape. You'll make it better than new.

I got all the resistors changed (less power resistor that checked good) and all capacitors replaced (less mica). It was fun, but difficult to keep tidy. Best, Don

Bobby, I’m sure my videos are not enjoyable to all, so it’s no big deal. Hope you’re doing well and thank you again for your past service serving our country. Best, Don

Nice radio Don,,, btw, do you know that your portable signal generator is making a revival on some channels close by? A worthy instrument indeed my friend.

Doug & Bob have done some amazing work in regards to signal tracers. Do you have a signal tracer? Best, Don

@@RestoreOldRadios Hey Don, only tracer I have is my old Heathkit T3.. Down the road I may try to put the one you have designed together. I'm a fan of the LM386 and 741.

Something to watch out for when measuring multi-megohm resistors, some of those DVMs top out at several megohms max on their ohms scales & will show those resistors as open.

Great to know. Afterwards I checked two resistors in series to equal 15 Meg and my Fluke was able to measure the resistance. I cut out the original resistor and checked it again and it continues to show open. Thanks again for your insight on DVM limitations. Best, Don

A couple times I've run into hi-value resistors in old radios that I could only measure with my VTVM.

Hi Don!!! As you know I am very interested in loudspeaker field coil features. When you can, and radio will be fine and working, please, May you measure the voltaje drop on field coil with a middle level broadcast sound in loudspeaker? (loudspeaker must be sounding not so loud, not so low). Thanks very much Don. Ketk (From Spain)
