I gave my CQC-7 to my sons friend when he went into the military. I recently, finally, got another Emerson. This time I got the CQC-8 and I love it.

Back in the late 1990s I worked at a high end knife retail store they sold the Emerson knives back when $125 was a lot of money for a folder when Benchmade knives mostly cost under 100 and spyderco zytel handled knives were anywhere between 35 -70 the good old days I remember when we got in one of those cqc7 chisel grinds I thought it was insane only ground on one side here we are 24 years later it's still around

I am a Drummer and Emerson knife owner. After watching this video I finally understood what my parents went thru all those years...listening to me beating on my Drums! Kind of annoying when you are not the one making the racket!😂 Great review by the way, Emerson's are AWESOME knives!

I love hearing him practice. I remember when he was about 9 or 10 and started learning. He has become an excellent musician and is now playong drums with the Orlando Elevation Church worship team. (At least he was until everything went virtual). He's even started learning guitar. Can you tell I'm a proud Dad?

Great review! I have 4 of these. A standard flipper, which I'm not sure I really like yet. I do have a brown Micarta Mini Sheepdog flipper that I really like on the other hand. My present edc is a 2020 CQC-7 SF with tan G-10 which I enjoy using a lot lol. I love the way these chisel ground blades get into the cut. Very aggressive! Another is a 2006 user which was delivered today. It was on Ebay for a steal - motivated seller and too good to pass up. I'll probably give this one to one of my sons. Another is a waveless dealer exclusive in green Micarta with a black right-hand plain grind which I really like. Been buying, using, and collecting Emersons since 1998, with the first being a Commander. Thanks for the video and thumbs up!

If you like the knife but find it just a little big and heavy for edc check out the cqc7 mini , I own both , love the original, but the mini is my favorite.Unless I break it ,I will never have to buy another knife. Also Emerson's customer service is second to none,better than Benchmade or Zero Tolerance in my experience.

Nice shirt!! The benchmade Griptilian has been a staple in my edc for years now. I love the modified sheep's foot. It is the most useful blade type i have ever experienced. From kitchen work to field craft it does it all. Mel Pardue hit a home run there. I have been wanting a fixed blade with the same sheep's foot. Never found one. Now with benchmade having sold out using my and other customer dollars to support anti gunners and anti gun legislation I need a new knife company. 2A or slavery 2 day. As of this comment Emerson is at the front of the pack thanks to this video. Thank you for posting it.

I'm curious, do you prefer this blade profile or the recurve of the Commander/Mini Commander? I've come close to buying both at times but ended up buying a Benchmade 722 instead (saber grind tanto with axis lock). I love framelocks but haven't trusted any liner lock since one failed on me many years ago (it closed on all four fingers - no permanent injuries, but it made me gun shy).

Now you’re talking. I can’t say that I ever remember hearing of Emerson knives. The blade design reminds me of the CRAT KISS knife designed by Ed Halligan. I’ve been carrying one of them for or should I say since 2006 as a money clip knife never had a problem with the blade design. I definitely like this life I believe I will update to this knife for every day carry. Thanks for the great review. Stay safe and healthy Brian.

Emerson knives that tend to go unnoticed in the mass media. No flash, just function. Ernie Emerson makes knives designed to function during the fight of your life, period. They aren't made to cut paper on KZbin, carve spoons, or open Amazon packages. Benchmade and Spyderco get all the press, while Emersons are used daily by people that tend to wear an extra 30 lbs of gear everyday. Mine have never let me down, while on duty. Never.

This is an Emerson signature. Being the knifemaker who brought the chisel grind to worldwide recognition, we are often asked; Why do you put the grind on the opposite side of a traditional Japanese Chef's knife? The answer is simple….We are not making chef's knives. Our knives are hard knives meant for hard users. We do not cut many tomatoes. Our tests and those of a major government agency determined that there was no difference between right and left side grinds for use as a tool or weapon. The left side was chosen for purposes of visual cue and reference.
@adrianalexandrino79384 жыл бұрын
Wow no batoning
@puddintame6310 Жыл бұрын
The chisel grind is nothing but a manufacturing shortcut, not "easier to sharpen in the field." The only advantage of the chisel grind is in certain, specialized cutting tasks, none of which are relevant to a "tactical knife." Chisel ground knives should cost less than conventional knives, all other things being equal. I don't believe the prices of Emerson knives are warranted by their quality, in comparison with similar knives.
