I've listened to Emery for a long time and had this image in my head of what the lead singer would look like. This is the first video I've see of them and can I tell you I was really suprised. He look like someone I would see at a local bar. Iove it.

This was one of the first songs from Emery I heard, on a highway in the middle of nowhere in Washington State in the backseat, 5 ish years old as my mom drove the car, schizophrenic and paranoid, to get away from the object of her hallucinations: my dear tortured father who did nothing but love and provide. I knew she wasn’t thinking right and my heart hurt to see my dad again so he could protect me. My mom stopped at a Christian music store, randomly bought the “Questions” CD because the voices in her head who she thought were God had told her to, (she doesn’t even like this kind of music, only classic Christian hymns for her) so she played it in the car and I listened in the backseat. I fell in love immediately, and when I saw how the words and the sound matched exactly how I imagined my dad feeling at home on so many tracks, Emery quickly became the soundtrack to my life. So I intercepted the CD when she realized the whole thing was this heavy music with electric guitars and screaming and decided to throw it away, and I kept it. And I never forgot and I never stopped listening to Emery, the only thing I had in that car to bring my heart close to my dad’s heart as we wondered if the other was okay, miles away, separated by a psychotic mom and wife who hated us both.
