Well done miss Mayer ! Un très sympathique scherzo, un beau troisième mouvement, mon préféré, dans lequel on entend passer un choral... hommage ?? Quelqu'un a suggéré que ce quatuor à pu être écrit pour une occasion particulière étant donné la présence, par deux fois, du choral "Wer nur den Lieben Fort laesst" .... Pour célébrer un événement privé important probablement..

Yet another brilliant composer whose works have been almost completely neglected because of her gender. This is gorgeous music of the highest caliber and deserves to be more well-known.

Did anyone else have my same impression that start of first movement is derived from one of a Mozart piano sonata?

There are only two Mozart piano sonatas in minor keys, the A minor, K. 310, and the C minor, K. 457. Of the two, this opening has a vague similarity to the K. 310, but only in its use of a tritone leading note ascending to the 5th, followed by a descending tonic triad

@@johannrufinatscha4210 Thanks for your comment, but I actually refer to a major key sonata whose theme - brought into minor - reminds me Mayer's opening. If I am not mistaken (but I can) it is one among late sonatas ........
