There is emotion in drumming and I expected them to feel hollow with someone else in that position but nope, proved me very wrong. However, I'm sure he's glad he's not in the limelight with everything going on around Emily. To a drummer, not being talked about is one of the best feelings, it means you're doing an awesome job blending 🙂

Chester was like a brother to him, no one will understand how much Chester means to Mike, and to have to listen to people say things like "Mike is trying to erase Chester" or "Mike only does it for the money". They waited 7 WHOLE YEARS before finding a replacement. No one is trying to erase Chester. Chester was their best friend and brother and he meant more to them than to anyone else in this world. Idk. Hard to say just how much of LPs success in getting known was because of Chester. I mean Crawling and the video for Crawling was really impactful because of the meaning and how it related so much to Chester's story and his vocals really sell that story. Sure Numb is one of the most popular songs but it still feels a lot of that is owed to Chester for how and why it (and the band) was so popular at that point. I'm not knocking the new sound and the singer is really great but it is really hard for me to personally get behind it when we don't have that same story behind it with the new singer. And of course I mean I find it really hard to get behind someone who doesn't believe mental illness is real/believes in Scientology. Mental health is like the forefront and message/meanings behind so much of LP so it doesn't make sense. Again, I think the sound is great and all but it truly isn't all that impactful as it was with Chester. They may not be written by Chester but he was an inspiration for the lyrics as well as the band's evolution over time/his own evolution.

They are in the part of their lives where they want to move on as people and artists so let them. Few years back i used to think the same, i was pretty bummed when one more light came out. I hated that linkin park wasnt pursuing heavy music, maybe because i was also going through something heavy in life but then chester killed himself and i realised how heavy those lyrics in that album really was. Its true that linkin park wont ever be the same without chester but emily is talented and i think she'll do great if we let her, this is the birth of a new linkin park.

When the original singer of AC/DC died, and Bon Scott took over, they had fans with horrible signs in front row giving him crap. What ended up happening? Still one of the best touring bands in history AND multi-platinum at the same time. The album "Back in Black" came out when Bon Scott was fresh but everybody know those songs. The main problem the fans who are speaking out have is that she is not only tied to Scientology but also Danny Masterson who was convicted in May 2023 of r*pe. They feel it is a slap in the face to Chester to have her take his place in Linkin Park. I personally get the creeps every time I see her photo or video. Something about her just gives me the feeling of looking at someone who is pure evil and I don't know why. It has nothing to do with her being the new singer in Linkin Park. I get this feel that something very bad is going to happen and it is going to destroy Linkin Park forever. I was disinterested in Linkin Park's revival, I felt that it should've been allowed to rest while the band move on and rebrand. But I decided to listen to Emily's new songs, the stuff written for her, and it's a clear homage to Chester while doing her own thing. Chester's vocals on the old songs are an engrained childhood memory to me, plus that was Chester pouting out his agony. Those songs were his pain and release, but Emily's performance on her own stuff has been top notch.
