This was just a goof ya'll. No one was a tracer, I promise.
Clip from Half Baked Ep. 16 - SomeOrdinaryGamers (46:00 onward)
This clip didn't make it into my final crxxpshow video, but it was a lighthearted bit of animation that I didn't want to go to waste.

Clip from Half Baked Ep. 16 - SomeOrdinaryGamers (46:00 onward for context, they're talking about crxxpshow) This clip didn't make it into my final crxxpshow video, but it was a lighthearted bit of animation that I still wanted to share. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5rdZIGfbq-MqNU

I can’t wait for your next video. This past year I quit college to pursue my dreams of being a full time artist. Some times it feels like only my Husband understands me but and I play your videos on repeat to make me feel better when I’m in a funk. Thank you for continuing to make amazing content. Your Chanel is what I listen to when I’m stressed. Xoxo from a Gal in TN

Haha, that's what I was wondering. As one of my favorite parts in your last video was when you had animations of the KZbinrs over their voices, I was wondering if this 11 second clip was something like unused footage. By the way, I would LOVE to see more animations done by you over material like voiceovers, commentaries, and whatnot.

…And even the ones that don’t trace usually have tons of reference photos that they may or may not directly “copy” to make sure the environment, fashion, poses, etc. are accurate. Professional concept artists straight up paint over photos and other images for time purposes. I’ll never understand people who think tracing, copying, photobashing, rotoscoping, etc. is “cheating.” Literally any professional artist will tell you to take shortcuts when you can (as long as you know what you’re doing & you’re using commercially licensed/Creative Commons media).

unpopular opinion but tracing really needs to be destigmatised. it’s different when you’re tracing someone else’s artwork, but when it comes to tracing shapes like a soda bottle, or the shape of a building tracing really shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
@jazzpear8877
@jazzpear8877 2 жыл бұрын
Even with tracing others' work it's a matter of how much. Getting an eye expression just right, or part of a pose, or if you like a particular abstract line... I think it's fine. That's sufficiently transformative in my opinion.
@tez-cat529
@tez-cat529 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is any problem with tracing in order to learn. Its when you claim the work as your own, and are making money off of it that it becomes an issue. Its the dishonesty that is problematic, not tracing in-of-itself

I’m still learning and really not the best at drawing so tracing outlines and certain shapes really helps me figure out how the line should be drawn/feel if that makes sense and then it’s easier to try draw freehand next time.

In general, a lot of being a tattoo artist is about "tracing", aka taking parts of a design that a customer wants exactly like that, and trying to make it as much your own as possible. And yeah, I know, ethically it's not okay, but we gotta put food on the table.

literally in my watercolor painting class in college you set up still lifes, photographed them, projected them onto your paper, then traced them (then printed the photo, mixed and matched the colors compared to said photo, did studies to figure out how to create the illusion of glass, etc.) The professor was an artist who had work shown all over the world and she used the same technique. It's a completely legitimate type of art as long as you're not tracing someone else's art and trying to pass it off as yours.
