When using the shorter board as spacing for your trim, kinda liked the look of the shorter board as a design feature. Never the less you did a great job and a screened in porch is an absolute necessity in the woods. I'm jealous of the youth today, some, just know what is important for true living. Pushing closer to 70, in my time, it was unheard of, all the focus was marry, family, debt and die.lol I follow a great many of young folk, various ages and dreams and your Dad, of course. Just want to say he did a fine job raising such a lovely humble child to bring light to the world. May all your dreams come true. ❤🇨🇦❤🇺🇸

The beauty in starting things at a young age is you get to make mistakes, learn from them, and know how to be better prepared for the next time (as you said). It's called experience and you wouldn't have that if you didn't make mistakes.
@reeddill78422 жыл бұрын
My Grandpa and Dad always told me there’s no such thing as a “mistake”. There are only two outcomes from every attempt in life = success or learned a lesson. There’s never failure or a mistake. It’s all in your perspective and mindset.

@itatane2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for bringing us along this week, Miss Emily! Have you looked into companion planting for your garden beds? I encourage Portulaca Oleracea (purslane) in my garden, as it is both a delicious "wild" edible, and acts to retain moisture while shading the soil. (You can either get it from other gardeners, or buy seeds from heirloom seed catalogs.) Also, I know the blackflies and other bugs get hellishly bad in our neck of the woods, it's something of a feat to get things done without being carried away. I have to wear long pants all summer, because stable flies bite like hell, and I'm allergic to them. If you haven't done it already, buy some cheap mosquito head nets, as they are fairly cheap without sacrificing ventilation and visibility. You and your dad can probably brainstorm ideas for mitigating the bug issues. You're smart folks, but two heads are better than one, as the saying goes.

It is a good idea for those who think one needs to start with a 2000 sq ft house in the burbs! We have been sold the idea that we need so much space - and when you get older, you just realize that now, you have to clean it and organize it, etc etc. I am retired with 3 and 1/2 baths (actually they just came with the house that I bought). I now have a permanent box for donations and of course, the trash can when I am going through anything and realize that I not longer use the stuff - so much STUFF! Especially for babies! My parents were quite well off and we had a big home when I was young and a beach cottage. My first few years were on a pillow in a chest of drawers - I was tiny and not growing - but today, someone would call child protective services. We used something called common sense back then and the scraps and bruises were our lessons of what not to do - concerned that the younger generations have no idea about harming themselves because they have never been allowed to. Emily is so lucky to have her father to guide her in these things. She is smart enough to learn from him and not have to make every mistake herself.

My Sunday tradition: stop working on the house…watch Emily work on the cabin…go back to working on the house. It’s a simple but very good life. Couple of questions, is the water source where you filled up at the end of the vid year round? Any plans to maybe plumb in a small pump for outdoor water at the cabin? And have you considered doing some tutorial style teaching vids? Noticed little things like that you tied back your hair before running the saw…definitely think there are a lot of teachable moments you could share!

Live and learn and you are. Making mistakes is all part of getting good at what you do and it helps you think ahead on future projects. I was wondering if the planter box was going to be to close to the porch all the while you were building it.As tough as doing the screening of the porch was you will remember that little mistake for future reference. 😉 But the screen will be so worth all the effort when the bugs are on the outside trying to get in LOL. Your going to have to challenge dad to an archery contest for us LOL Your just like your daddy making those wonderful outdoor meals .made me hungry 😋. Thanks,be safe and God bless 🙏 Oh no I was just thinking If you do decide to add a water catchment system it's going to be tough to put that gutter up on the porch roof too.or maybe put the system on the back side of the cabin instead of the front. Oh well like I said live and learn from the missteps as you go. Tough things make us even tougher. Good luck Emily!

YES! An open ended gutter and a rain barrel at the end and a small chain to guide the water into the barrel.

With a tap on the bottom of the barrel to attach a garden hose for filling your watering can. I've 2 x 50 Gallon Plastic Heavy Drums plumed together with adjourning pipe, that supplies plenty of spare water over the drier seasons. Just an idea. I've a retractable branch in my Down pipe, but you could run the down pipe directly to the Barrel. The screening looks practical. You're quite good with that Bow & Arrow. Have a happy week ahead. Cheers from NZ ! M. :)

Can't wait to see how he does the interior - coming soon after Spring planting and that greenhouse will save them during times of the year when growing outside is too difficult of covered in snow. It will be more stable and give you better accuracy. Give it a try, if it dont work for you no loss, but if it does it will improve your shot. See if you can use your Dads UTV and maybe tug the plant bed out from the porch. You'll just have to straighten up a little when your done.
