Thanks for watching! I realized after I uploaded the video that I didn't provide any explanation for the process of growing mushrooms in logs, nor was it obvious what I was doing. Click on this link for a brief description of what I'm doing and why. It's a video on my other channel, Shawn James; kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3rYgKemeZJ9jKM

I wonder how many people are yet to realize that to make these camera shots you have to walk twice or thrice the usual distance. Have to setup the camera, walk the shot, and then retrieve it. First time i got this realization was when watching the tv show Survivorman, where he explained this process while being alone and without a camera crew. It impressed me, and still impresses me how much effort goes into making these awesome shots.

I've been building structures for decades ( hundreds ) many of them being of different types of log homes including some for my self and family but so have many of my peers. What I've built is nothing to be in awe of since it is my trade, what I am in awe of with these videos is all the time it takes this man to go back and forth to pick up and relocate his camera ! Back tracking down the trails over and over again to show him coming and going, getting footage from left and right , up and down. If he didn't have to screw with the camera as much he could have built a village . Maybe one day his wife or someone worth his salt would join him to get the footage needed , allowing this man to exhaust his full potential !

This is my fascination too. The illusion of continuity created here by the way it's filmed, most people would never consider as they're so used to television and movies. I assume given Cali isn't being distracted by another person, that Shawn is constantly moving a tripod around in between takes, or should I say edits.

And the change of the angle of the shots is what makes it so watchable, thanks for the effort. Enjoyed and relaxed; much needed.

You ever thought about doing a sleep/meditation channel of all the natural water and forest sounds you have? Just record and post it and people could relax to the sounds. Just an idea.

Maybe when he’s finished the new homestead he’ll have time. Until then, I replay one of his MANY vids almost every night to relax and tune out. Helps me get into a nice meditative state. 😉

When I was a kid growing up north of Parry Sound, we would tap our trees to gather syrup. It takes a lot of tree syrup to boil down enough to use. It brought back some wonderful memories watching you. Also, when spring was near it was my job to paint the inside of the outhouse. 🥰

When I see shots of the water current under the ice and the steep snow banks I get concerned about Cali falling in and not being able to get out. One of our neighbors here in British Columbia just lost a Golden Retreiver that way a couple weeks ago. He was swept under the ice by the current and drowned. I thought of Cali immediately and have been praying for her safety. You probably have her trained to stay away from water in the winter. Anyway, God bless and keep you both safe. I so enjoy your videos......it brings me peace in the midst of an unsettled world.
