I'm in a relationship. At the begining I was very anxious and I thought it was God telling me to walk away from him. Later on, I discovered that I didn't know how to communicate my feelings, not only with him but with everyone. I'm working on that now and I'm way happier than I was before🧡 I strongly recommend to learn how to communicate properly

"Just because others are finding their way, it doesn't mean you are lost " Just the other day, I was thinking about how my sister has her life together - she's married, has a career, a home with her husband. Has 2 daughters. She is 5 years older than me. And me, at 38? Well, let's just say my life isn't where I think it should be. But then, the Father spoke to me and let me know that even though I may not be where society says I should be, He has me exactly where He wants me for now. In time, He will move me where He wants me to go and having me doing what He wants me to do. But for now, I'm exactly where I should be according to His will, and doing what He wants me to do according to His will.

Number #8 is what I really needed to hear. There's a guy that's been pursuing me for a few months & some family have been telling me to give him a chance. (I've never had a serious boyfriend) However, I've felt uncomfortable around him from the start. He's made me angry multiple times. Mostly because I've told him that I only see him as a friend and he chooses to ignore that. I know he's not the right one because I have no peace about it at all.

The one about the woman marrying the man after 5 years made me sob. It hit me right where I’m at and praying.
@margiehalpern45733 жыл бұрын
Wow--that is a GREAT compilation, of so many important ideas. What would I have wanted to go back and tell myself (lots of opportunity to do so, since I didn't marry till the year I turned 50)? Number one: that marriage won't automatically (and magically) fix whatever's ailing you! And number two: yes, good relationships take effort by both parties, but if the prevailing feeling in a relationship is WORK WORK WORK or DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA rather than p-e-a-c-e.....make a u-turn and walk away.
@emwilss3 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you thought so, Margie! Those are great additions.

Just be patient and never rush into anything...being single really is better than being with the wrong one. I used to wonder how one could say they married the wrong person. I thought that if it was, then it was meant to be. Well I know now it is possible to marry the wrong person. You don't wanna marry someone who doesn't understand you...or your humor....or appreciate you . It is better to be alone than with the wrong I no one. And so true that if he makes you angry and makes you cry, leave him!! You don't need someone who doesn't care about your feelings. If he doesn't care now, he never will. Don't rush into marriage. If something feels off then don't do it. If God is telling yo u to leave don't hesitate. He can see into the future so just trust him. Marry someone who goes to the church that YOU like to go to. It causes so many problems being with someone with beliefs that don't line up with yours. If you value being active in church together and imagine your family in church together...please make sure you are equally yoked. You don't want to be in an unequally yokes marraige. And don't wait till you find that perfect house. .Dont not buy a house just because you are not married! Owning a home is a great investment! Renting is a waste of money and all of those thousands of dollars you could have put on a home. Sorry so long...you know what they say...hindsight is 20/20.

I love the advice about how the right guy will bring women a sense of peace. I find it difficult to meet the right guy because so many guys have made me feel uncomfortable in the past or have not been supportive in my art goals. I also find that sometimes I meet guys who are supportive and are nice, but don't have a backbone to stand up and defend me when the situation calls for it, like if I'm being bullied. I'm starting to wonder if there are any good men out there with a backbone left.

My advice (I've been married for 10 years and I have 3 kids): Learn to be intentional about everything that's important to you and your marriage (prayer, finances, how to raise your kids, date nights, exercise, work, education, etc...). It took us 8 years to figure this out. The last two years of our marriage have been the best so far!

Omg! I am in a similar situation like nr 51. Five years ago I broke up with the man I love, I felt heartbroken and cofused, and now it seems like God is bringing us together. We learned from the past mistakes and we are willing to let it go and put God on the first place in our relationship.

Emily, could you do a video on priorities in marriage in terms of relationship? Of course God comes first, then spouse, and then kids; but the ones that come after God can be blurred sometimes. For instance, how do you honor your parents while not involving them in your marriage? I want to know the most godly way to prioritize people in my life, so I can have a stable and faithful marital relationship in the future. Thank you!

Very good video Emily. I was never married,l; it just worked out that way. I had decided not to marry for the sake of just being married as some people did. I have a niece who married somewhere around 21 and some years later left her husband because he became abusive. Being abusive to a wife was something one generation taught the other and this had gone for several generations. I was taught that courtship was a lifelong thing. I don't know how this family fell into such a pattern of spouse abuse. We are all in the same faith and it teaches against spouse abuse. Remarriage after a divorce is final is permitted in my faith and my niece tried to find another husband but it never worked out. Two of my brother's other children were slow to marry. One married after many years. The other I think is still single.
