@@williamjones3534 not just black talent, but black dominated genre(s). It's the same corrupted process as with the Academy Awards, you have to kiss so much ass to even be considered. The system is archaic and the era it was created in, not only were black people disenfranchised from true political participation but yeah you get me. They are keeping in tradition(veiled racism) the streak of diminishing their aknowledgement of the influence of black musical handiwork, whether it be from innate talent or musical genius 'Sorry Kanye, Treach, Pharrell, but we gotta give the grammy to [Lisa Strantenberger] on her debut album.' Shiiiit they still reeling from the fact Off The Wall won so many Grammys they not going to be shelling grammys to nobody who's got their ear to the ground neither to people who are literally carving a new genre with just spoken word.

Which tells me, no matter how great your work ethic is, no matter how gifted a songwriter you are, and no matter how hard you are willing to work to put out the best music possible, there is an industry just waiting to crush your mind, spirit, and finances into paste, and enrich themselves off of your work in the process. If I'm not mistaken, Nas was nominated 15 times. Also, we all know Illmatic should have won an album, but remember, the Grammys never had the Hip-hop genre included/recognized at that time or something like that. Then again, Nas has a lot of other classic albums that should have gotten one.

Public Enemy exposed the grammy's in 1988 and so did a bunch of other rappers when they boycotted the show. Geto Boys also had a record about this in 91 called Trophy!

The Grammys took YEARS to even recognize rap. I wouldn’t even look at a Grammy as a big deal. The Ohio Players, the Whispers never won Grammys either. Rick James only won a Grammy for Mc Hammer Can’t touch this…😐

The Grammy awards show is the biggest joke going in the Music Industry. I remember when DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince won Rap album of the year over Public Enemy, De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Big Daddy Kane, and Eric B. and Rakim I knew the fix was in.

@@DorianGroup82 dude, look it up. There were 2 execs who got fired who broke down what you're explaining on the surface but then the media discredited them by saying they got fired. These people use these rappers to push their white artists but as soon as they say something wrong those white artists sing a current tune. It sickens me even more because some of these guys don't know power dynamics and you can tell because the artist they are working with is usually in a position of power. It's sad bro. Look up the executives, this happened just before C19

As long as the artists themselves will continue to submit their works to the Grammy nothing will ever change. It’s a bit hypocrite for some artists to criticise and to «boycott » by refusing to perform there while every year they continually submit their works in hopes to get a nomination and when they win in these BS « black categories » gladly go on stage to receive it. Hands up to Franck Ocean, Kid Cudi, the Weeknd and a few others who refuse to play the game
