This Song got me through College. I was 48 years old. My two young grandchildren had moved in with me to raise. I had been downsized from my job. All I could find were temporary jobs that didn't pay much. I realized I needed that "piece of paper" to get a job that could support us. I was scared wondering if I still had what it takes to make it in College. I was so tired between going to school, raising my grandkids, working a part time job, etc. EVERY morning I played this Song on my way to school. It kept me going when I felt like giving up. This Song will always have a special place in my heart. ❤

The realist song he ever wrote. He was not playing with this one. When he said success is only option from getting shot or in jail, he was spiting really about his life. Em grew up in Detroit and from what I heard the worst part too. Detroit is pretty much known as one of the worst cities in the U.S. with the highest crime rate. You know he saw a lot of craziness go down. Dudes getting shot, car jacking, etc. He was around all of that. So besides his own personal bs he went through with his mother, he also had to try to survive everyday in his hood as people were constantly getting murdered. So yeah he was not just talking to be talking. Blessing from God made Em have a successful career in hip hop as he dont have to go through all of that no more. Good song to react you guys. He definitely is a legend and probably one of the greatest mc in history.

I can attest to the environment around Detroit at that time. I grew up a few miles from him. He would have been one grade above me. He grew up on the N.E. side which was really bad. I grew opposite, on the S.W. side. I had it easy... only 1-2 gang fights, car jacking, shootings, drug deals in my area during h.s. years. We had to park our cars in the back and lock our gate so no one would steal our car or tires in the middle of the night.

I literally just watched 8 mile a few hours ago. This song is so amazing. He was not at the Oscars the night he won so the song wasn’t performed. But he shocked everyone at the 2020 Oscars when he finally performed his Oscar winning song! A montage of songs ran that greatly influenced movies and all of a sudden they went to a scene from a famous movie, Deliverance that featured Burt Reynolds and he literally said “sometimes you have to lose yourself”. And was like NO WAY!! And then Eminem does his thing, with his band and full orchestra! He got a standing ovation. In my opinion an incredible performance not to be forgotten! Thank you for your reaction!

That was his truth, that’s what he came from and that’s what he did. He made it out. The scene in the movie 8 Mile where he gets booed on the stage is hard to watch, you can FEEL how he must’ve felt, uughh! But he pulled it out, it all came together for him and I’m so happy for him. Coming from such poverty to where he is now and he’s really a good guy. I’m also glad he and Dre are still close, that’s a story for all times, no CAP 😆 Great job guys 💙💙

Love what you guys said about working through stress. Everyone has anxiety and deals with uncomfortable moments day to day, but we work through it. You can’t just shut down and crawl inside a “safe box” every time something challenging comes along and just blame it on anxiety. Some things are tough, some things absolutely suck, but tapping out and giving up isn’t the answer, IMO.

Best rap song of all time (in my humble and honest opinion). The motivation in this song, the truth, the vulnerability, the message... not to mention the bars and the lyricism. I love this song.

Few years ago I was in the car with my friend, literally .2 seconds in, I said “I love this song!” My friend “that was really fast” I quickly tell him I used to know all the words and was obsessed when it came out. he was like “okay go.” Me *spits entire song* my friend 😳😳😳

Besides Will Smith's "soft" rap, this is about the only rap song I've ever liked. I think it's the lyrics and the beat/music. I'm 60 years old and still follow pop music for sure, but the oldies are my favorite.
