I mean. Both can be true. Shirou did it all as an extremely unhealthy coping mechanism for his intense survivors guilt, trying to find validation and worth in saving others until it ripped himself apart. Ritsuka meanwhile got shoved into a position as a normal guy/girl and *has* to keep going, else all of humanity and their own lives will be lost, but also carrying the weight of so many lost lives on their shoulders, the sins of destroying lost belts. Both are terrible tragedies, one due to personal choices from compounding grief and trauma, and one due to circumstance way, way beyond their control that they still have to face, because there's no one else who can. What an honour. What an injustice.

​@amidabibjo1869 to be fair though, they both have body counts you would not bother to count, Ritsuka killing at least a couple hundred thousand to potentially billions per lostbelt (with some exceptions), since by technicality its an alternate Earth, only that we can only interact with a certain portion of it since the rest is not willed to reality yet, while Emiya is killing endlessly as long as Alaya sees a problem which needs to be solved. Both of them would rather not kill if they can help it, but they have to keep moving forward.

Just when you think Emiya Shirou can't suffer anymore, there is a universe where his life is worse. I agree with you, this is a Mind of Steel continuation. He isn't even bothering to be a Superhero here. I also think it's interesting that the government saved him from death to be their perfect agent. He did actually defeat a major threat to them. It's just too bad it cost him his soul. Also, I really wonder what Kotomine would have thought about Kiara, and if he would have stood against her and what she represented -- especially if he could have trained Shirou to kill everyone he loves. I think, in this scenario, the priest would be laughing from beyond the grave at Alter's fate.

Kirei would eliminate Kiara without a second thought. Without even a first thought. Kiara would be just another loser that made it big by playing a conman. As far as Kirei's concerned, she isn't even a lowly life-form; merely another politician draped in someone else's clothing trying to make a bigger deal of herself than she was. Those are the kind of people that Kirei has no qualms eliminating. Zouken was a little better than Kiara in terms of purpose; Kiara is not even worth a worm to Kirei. She'd be dead and buried in an unmarked grave.

They had my man become a government spook just taking people out with a suit and everything. I can't help but think of Kiritsugu and Kirei as they both took out magi/monsters but found no real salvation or satisfaction just doing it until they were at the end of their rope or literally couldn't anymore. His NP make way more sence now essentially shooting his ideals into a something and those ideals tear them apart from the inside as swords. I don't think we've ever seen it depicted being used on anything but I imagine it looks like they got hit with an Origin Bullet only messier being turned into a porcupine with swords sticking out.

So in short we have more or less the following endings or definitions of some versions of shirou emiya: Shirou emiya (fate route): he had gone to avalon post-true ending of the fate route, true ending of fate route is on the fate/stay night last episode, his ideals stayed the same but he is more insightful of others (this is what i understood about Fate route shirou since his story is pretty simple) Shirou emiya (no route aka common facts only): disappeared in some time after (i think it was on 2008, 2009'ish or around the 2010's), this version is still in lack of information so i will say nothing Shirou emiya UBW: gone to the clock tower with rin early and learned some things that he would learn later in the war early such as creating copied NPs that are not techniques or divine constructs and unlocking his Reality marble early, maked sure he doesn't end up as EMIYA (archer). Shirou emiya HF: turned into an doll, btw it was the best scenario for him in the HF route from which i nicknamed the HF route as 'there is no holy grail war and yes only destruction' route, abandoned his ideals to only protect his close ones Shirou emiya miyuverse: gone to the imaginary number space, abandoned his ideals to save his sister EMIYA (Archer): executed in public because of his ideals, Fate route shirou except he did'nt save Saber and also he turned into an counter guardian by forming an contract with the world Nameless (archer): same as EMIYA (Archer) except he was betrayed by his friends since they already knewed the path he was going, almost the same as Emiya (Archer) except he maked peace with his ideals, gone for an mercenary job and maked an contract with moon cell Since we got the backstory then; EMIYA Alter: was going to be executed but he had being turned into an governament dog aka an public hero, lost all of his remaining of being Shirou emiya in the Kiara sessyoin's cult fight and inspired by mind of steel ending of FSN the only difference is that he stills care for taiga (even though he killed her), just like his FGO profile screen says he is an merciless executor.

Emiya alter is interesting and all but I wish I could finally get answers on the where fate and ubw shirou succeed where archer failed. Ubw shirou especially because he saw archers life so he can go right where archer went left but nasu probs don't care. I also say this because sbaer got garden of avalon (though it was too short for my liking) but archer doesn't get that kind of expansion.

@@thirdplanet4471 I think Archer’s backstory doesn’t need any more content. We know he’s a Shirou Emiya that lived a life similar to the fate route just minus the love for Saber. I am more interested in the OG Shirou since he’s always been getting shitted on by the fandom, neglected by nasu, and replaced by muramasa. Mabye one day we may get a different class of EMIYA that directly references OG Shirou Emiya’s appearance in every fate series. Maybe like a ruler or saber class Emiya because of the Avalon ending. Him making it to Avalon is no small feat.

A question for anyone willing to answer: Why did Natsu and a good portion of Type Moon, write Angra Mainyu as weak in terms of being a servant? We’re all aware of the build up he was given from Zero, slight mentions from the Fate and UBW Routes, good portion of the story in the Heaven’s Feel Route to even being given a small event in FGO to shine. Yet that one seemed to be more focused on introducing Kiritsugu as a Counter Guardian. You’d think for someone given this amount of build up, has one of the most tragic backstories, literally forced against his will to embody everything scummy about Humanity to even being given the monicker of ‘All The Worlds Evil’ would be a pretty powerful threat in terms of being a servant or character, right? This isn’t me doing this for the sake of complaining and I do like a good portion of his character. This is just me being curious on why he was written to be weak in terms of being a servant. Another thing I’d like to know if what would he look like if he was summoned in a different class? How would a Angra Mainyu look like as a Berserker? How would that work with his character and would that make him able to be equal with other servants or no?

damn, Alter Shirou really did off his whole family. alright hear me out; If the running theory is that this mind of steel Shirou, he's gone hardcore into adopting the Kiritsugu method, but to an alternative extreme; as Kiritsug's method is as little collateral as possible, Alter Shirou's would be as much collateral as possible to bury it from people's consciousness. And as a staunch anti-magus and any presentation of magecraft advocate, disconnected or alienating from any connection with the larger mage community. in effect, probably the only surviving bonds Shirou had to the outside world was with Taiga. (I'm also more inclined to believe that Taiga's son is also his in a roundabout way, as the only anchor to his sanity) Shirou's knee jerk reaction is to cut it at the source (preventing another Sakura route Heaven's-Feel-like scenario, were his actions may've been aimed at saving Sakura but the cost in lives is unacceptable, and if made to repeat HF Alter Shirou's solution maybe to simply destroy the grail war from advancing beyond the initial summoning phase, kill all participant masters and -their extended families-, hunt surviving participants from previous grail wars (if he discovers them), and maybe tear apart the church and mage's association to reach Zelretch, after destroying all related information about the ritual). like asking about the grail and people's only recollection would be Jesus's cup from the last supper. (forget mind wiping, he's going scorched earth doctrine).

Quick questions: what limits the servant that you can summon if you don’t have a catalyst( by that I mean a physical object connected to the person, outside of your own physical body like francesca) to use, but a good mana pool? Can someone who has ties to death summon death of the four horseman, like a church executioner? Why do servants that clearly has no desire to get the grail get summon? Prime example being Gilgamesh. Can the servant not refuse the summon because of the summoner possessing a catalyst?
