REMEMBER HOWEVER that just because someone is denied a disability case, does not mean they aren't disabled and don't need the money. case denials happen many times before they actually accept you, because the people behind it are actually incredibly ableist. i'm trying to currently get disability for a chronic condition that's nearly killed me multiple times since BIRTH, and they said "it won't last more than 6 months" when it literally alters the structure of my blood cells permanently. it's genetic, and on top of that, i have so many other chronic illnesses and other issues that *actually* leave me bedridden on some days. ssdi just does not care. plus, i looked her up because she could have been fighting the case due to a psychiatric disability, which make up at minimum, 20% of social security cases in the US. obviously not in her case, but remember if someone is denied disability it doesn't mean they were just "trying to get free money" and "not really disabled", the system is just corrupt and it's awful. people with psychiatric disabilities could do what she did, which is why i wanted to double check, because ssdi could be like "but you went outside once and did something! you don't have depression!" :| obviously not the case, she was abusing the system in place for *us*, but it's truly horrific for disabled people needing those benefits, ssdi cherry picks any excuse to deny us. so please don't automatically assume it's someone trying to "cheat the system" when we get denied, i just want to raise awareness about how stupid ssdi is lmao
