To everyone wanting 'free art commissions' There is no such thing as a 'free commission' It's known as a request Some people will offer themselves to make art for people to practice. If you do find someone who offers to draw requests, please ask them nicely and don't be rude or demand much. They do it for practice and you get art for free.

Ya know I've wanted a few commissions over the years and I've looked at places like deviantArt and stuff to find people who do the kind of style I want but ITS SO HARD TO FIND PEOPLE WHO TAKE COMMISSIONS. Like dude I'm willing to pay, your prices not mine, but ALL THE COMMISSIONS ARE CLOSED. T_T Idk maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Like- with that budget you can get some VERY high quality stuff :0 From my experience I'd suggest to go on Instagram and either 1.Look in the hashtag "commissions" or "commisionsopen" and go through the posts. Or 2. Go to the account of someone who's art you like/ wanted a commison from and look who they're following. The artist probably gets their inspiration from those people so it should be on a similar level of art. If you're lucky you can find someone who's art style you like just as much ^^ But to be honest I'd just wait until the commissions of the person you want an art piece from are open again. I have never taken or requested a commission so please don't take what I'm saying as law. I just know there are some crazy good artists on Instagram :}

I still remember my first commission; they asked me to make a 3 panel comic of their OC. I did it, and at one point, I had an idea for a 4th panel, and I asked if I could include it. They said yes, I drew it, and didn’t charge them for the 4th. They sent me the money, and included the cash for the 4th panel, even though I didn’t ask for that. It made my day, they loved my work. :)

I've been burned a few times on buying homeless or desperate people food tbh. The man who whined about the pizza: OMG! When i was in japan, I went on an ambulance run (I was a Navy Medic) and didn't think it would take long, so didn't bring food or money for lunch. The run took all day long, and so I was sitting with the driver (who was Japanese) and had no food. He looked at me, left, and came back with a cheese burger. I despise cheeseburgers, but I ate the damn thing and was grateful and thanked him whole heartedly. He spent money on a stranger (still don't know his name. He was not medical, he drove the ambulance only). He gave up money (and time getting the thing) and gave it to some poor, starving white woman who needed it. I wasn't about to refuse it just because I hated the thing. If I'm not allergic, I am not gonna sneer if someone does me a solid. And those wanting to know why I never asked his name in all the time I lived in japan? I only saw him that one time. He drove a Bus ambulance and we were transporting 40 light care patients. Normally, I was in a one-patient ambulance, so knew the other driver not this one.

When I commission someone, I always ask them their prices. If it is too much, I wish them good luck and will continue to support their art. I've done 40$ (cause I'm broke) twice from the same artists. I couldn't be happier as well as supporting their art. Pay your freaking artists, folks.

People like those in this video are why I try everything I can to be as easy to work with as possible when I commission artists. If what I ask for is more complex than they accounted for in their prices and there is an extra cost then fine. If there is some reason they can't do what I ask for, even if they ask not to need to disclose why, I won't complain. If you ask a mechanic, "and fix my alternator while you are at it" during a car repair, they are in total rights to charge more. Why shouldn't an artist be under the same expectation? Some of these people are full time with their art and cannot afford to give "freebies", even if that be an extra detail in one single little area.
