11:00 the reason that residential subdivision in Dubai looks like it does is because Dubai is a visual illusion of order and beauty. In reality beyond the facade it is just a fraud that is littered with abandoned supercars and its streets often filled with a convoy of septic maintenance trucks due to a lack of plumbing in their eye catching iconic tower of which i refuse to name. Most of the workers contracted to build anything they were supposed to build didn't build everything they were supposed to build, some of which only ended up destroying the coastline without constructing what they were teraforming the coastline for.

@dieseldragon6756Ай бұрын
I've always wondered why that tower uses trucks when a sewer seems like the most obvious solution?... 🚛💩🤔 Also; I never realised its name is obviously a point of contention for some. Sounds like we're only getting _half_ of the story in these parts... 🇬🇧
@GamerXDaringDoXАй бұрын
@@dieseldragon6756 it's more of a matter of personally disliking fraud and deceptive practices as for why i choose not to state the tower by name as doing so gives them credit for something. As such i don't bother memorizing it's name. I will admit that i do not know the full of what is going on in Dubai, but i do know a good amount of what has been done there was done without fully thinking about the costs and practicality of what they planned to do and instead looking at the concept of it and what it could bring in for their business and tourism. In a nutshell its mostly a paradise of what works good on paper but not in practice.
@dieseldragon6756Ай бұрын
@@GamerXDaringDoX Y'know...That makes me think a little too, in the context of towers and things being different between paper and reality. 😇 There's a site near me that I've always thought would be optimal for a tower rather higher than _that_ one. In my mind it would make a good gateway project, a good landmark, and being parallel to local flight paths wouldn't impede existing air traffic. 👍 Thing is; A 2km high tower would be a hard sell in _any_ country, let alone mine 🇬🇧 where smaller portions and greater reservation has always been the order of the day! 🙃

3:09 Yeah... the problem with those hangar doors is, if there is strong winds, the tail fin acts as a sail and presses the body into the hangar door, creating a LOT of damage. A better solution is the nose sticking out, but that needs the hangar (and door) to be high enough to fit the fin, which means you were calculating with the dimensions of those or at least similar aircraft, so you could have made the hangar longer in the first place...

Ok. That first joke of the horses riding "Coach" was really clever. Pompeii. The stones are crazy tightly connected too. What was even more interesting is how they had curbs built in too. Water would just pool on top of the roads since there was no where for it to go. They also put giant rocks at intervals across the roads like we do crosswalks to keep your feet dry. The rocks were spaced and the right hight to allow chariots or wagons to be able to keep using the roads too. It was such a neat trip. Highly recommend visiting if you ever get the chance. It's worth it. (Final note. The Roman Forum of Pompeii is right in line with Mt Vesuvius. If you stand int he middle of it and stare down the center the volcano is perfectly in line and bracketed by the Forum. Its one hell of a sight.)

It's kind of give and take about homes being copy pasted and crowded. I don't know what solution is possible.
@somdudewillsonАй бұрын
It gets even worse, actually - there are, of course, people who would like to sell to people of lower income (their money spends fine). However, people who _have_ managed to buy homes generally really don't want their home to be worth less. So, they strongly oppose the construction of more affordable housing in their vicinity.

Just allowing house owners to make changes would do a lot of good. I've heard horror stories of one guy getting in trouble for painting his house the wrong shade of green and another who converted an old car into a hot tub and bbq and was told he wasn't allowed to have a "car wreck" in his yard.
