I was so intent on watching the rocks, at around 4 min in the shelf on the left tipped forward and made me jump. ☺

Haha! It scared me too as I kept leaning my foot on it by accident while painting and it nearly fell twice! I forgot to snip it out of the video :-)

Hello Emma it's a very beautiful drawing.. I m new to pastels.. unison which used was it soft oil pastel? And is it possible to draw with stabilo or with faber castel pitt pastel on top of oil or soft pastel?
@EmmaColbertArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer, oil pastels are different from soft pastel. I use soft pastel which comes in a range of different forms. From pastel pencil to the softer sticks. How well the pencil applies on top of the pastel depends a little on what paper you're using, but on Pastelmat I did it a lot in this piece. They combine well.

Is there like a library where i can see all the tutorials that are in the different patreon memberships? So i know if for me it is worth it as i dont want to draw just anything and what ms i should take.

Amazing. I have a question. On Patreonchannel - Is it possible to show German subtitles, like here on Facebook?
@EmmaColbertArt4 жыл бұрын
All my videos on Patreon are uploaded via KZbin so yes. Whatever you can do on KZbin you can do there by clicking at the bottom right of the video as normal. Do the German subs read ok for you? I can't tell :-)

I need to switch from oil painting before too long. There is a time frame involved that has become increasingly uncomfortable for me. Once it dries to that tacky point it over. Must let fry long time and then more or less start over almost ….and i prefer wet on wet but as a student i need to stay with it for hours and then a few days in a row repeat more hours. Sure its a project! Fine. But if something happens to interrupt this process and the paint gets tacky your kinda screwed actually. Only thing i see that is foing to happen with pastels is once youve put down a certain amount the paper is “full”. As a befinner going over things happens a lot….to get it better but the paper gets full of pastel and its pretty much time to quit! But i wont be worried about supplies drying on a pallette or on the canvas or almost ruining a very expensive brush by accident.. i wont be replacing the brushes or tubes of paint or oils Ive acquired. At least that is how it feels now! I see the possibility of multimedia with pastels more than with oils. Do you oil paint? Or water color?

I most liken pastel to oil painting but yes without the drying times. I find that difficult in oils too. Filling the paper is one of the constraints of the medium for sure, but perhaps less important to a more experienced painter. Paint how you normally layer up in oils. It's similar
