I got the ikea antilop for about $25 USD. We made a custom adjustable foot rest for the high chair which maybe cost $5 if you have tools already. And added a support cushion for the back and sides for about $16. All in all I think it’s doing it’s job. Mind you, this is my first child, and we’re planning to have other babies soon, so I’d need to buy a second high chair anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wheels are very important, and it's probably better to have that function and not use it, then not have it and wish you did. The ability to wheel around the high chair was one of the biggest reasons why I picked the Graco 6-in-1. I want to have her join me in the kitchen when I'm prepping food and she is high enough to see the counter. Then I wheel her into the dining room where we eat our meals. Then I wheel her back into the kitchen to the garbage/sink area so she can learn how we "clean up" the dishes.

@@AprilMFresh We have the Graco Blossom 6-in-1. It has a recline feature so you can use it starting from the newborn stage and the wheels are awesome! Also a tip on keeping high chair straps clean when your baby starts eating solids: get a Bumkins long sleeved smock (Amazon has it) and then put a regular fabric bib on top. The bib will cover the straps so they don't get dirty, it has a tighter neck so it will keep food from dropping down the smock's neck which is a little bigger in order to fit up to toddler age, and you can throw it in the laundry right after.

I personally liked being able to recline when learning to use a sippy (daycare doesn’t let them have an open cup till 2) my daughter would be fully sitting up to eat but would get reclined when we’d give her her sippy, after about a week we no longer had to do this as we slowly reclined less and less till she got it, but after 6 months of her not getting that she needs to tip the sippy up it was nice to have this option.

I bought the chair. I really love that I can move him directly to the table and he has dinner with all of us! He watches his siblings and does same thing he’s very messy cause he’s only 8 months but he’s very excited to have meals at the same dinner table.

My last grandchild was a preemie baby and at first we used her sisters IKEA high chair with extra cushion but having limited space, as I had to have the cot in the living room I needed something that was foldable and adjustable, light and easy to open and close. Babbie highchair fitted my need and at £59.00 it was affordable. I wanted the recline option because sometimes she would fall asleep after eating and would be safer than her lying flat after eating, it also keep her air ways clear as her lungs are still developing. I also would recommend the five point harness, it took time to work out but worth my piece of mind.

I personally like the Graco highchair. I had it for my 15 year old and 11 year old years ago, got rid of it, and luckily was given the same model for my 8 month old when he was born. I like using what I'm accustomed to, I wasn't really finding any of the new ones to my liking. The graco is plastic, super easy to wipe down, removable tray, some have an extra tray insert to go over main tray. It has a cup holder and snack slots in bar under tray for when you're not using tray. It has a chair cushion that is removable for the washer but can be wiped down. It has an adjustable 5 point harness. It has a footrest that is fixated, not adjustable. It has a one hand adjustable height button, so it fits at most any table height. It has a one hand adjustable recline button, which I like so your baby can start sitting at the table with the family for mealtime starting as an infant. The only thing that I add for that is the halo head support pillow for car seats. It does have wheels with locks, that I do like because we will sometimes pull the chair from the dining room to living room after dinner while his belly is settling or if he needs a change of scenery or distraction. It does also fold up for storage which I would only use for storage in between kids, it stays set up otherwise. It is also neutral colors of cream and sage.

Please keep in mind that not all Graco chairs are made with the same comfort. We have Graco Table2Table and my 7 mo old hates it. It's made to gradually "grow" with the baby high chair to toddler chair and table for playing even studying. But its double cushions easily catch foods, the sides are firm and too high, the table tray is too low, the back somewhat remains reclined (even when this option is not used), the straps are absolutely uncomfortable for BLW. He sits unsupported since 6 mo but no adjustments could be made to allow him actually reach the food on his plate with his hands! Such a disappointment, clearly is not made for BLW. Will soon exchange it for IKEA. There's no need to overpay for such important stuff for baby's development.

I,ve been wheeling my newborn, now infant, arround the house in my Peg-Perego Siesta for the last three months, it is by far my favourite feature along with the reclining option. Made my life so much easier to have baby follow me room to room while he looks at me get stuff done, he feels involved. It's also portable and I bring it to ALL the grandparent's house so baby sits with us whereever we go. It's like, that one chair is so versatile, I'm surprised it wasn't mentionned.

Wheels are very useful. Newborn position is great when you sit at the table and your 3 moths old want to join to a dinner time and play. Folding is great when you planning more kids and want to store the high chair. Wooden is not always easy to clean and paint can come off And not comfortable. If you buy cushion to the wooden h.chair then you can buy the high chair with cusion at the first place. I feel this video is just an advertisement.

I must be an outlier for using the wheels lol. I originally had a second hand highchair but it wasn't adjustable for reclining or the feet so we got a new one on Amazon. I was dragging that high chair around the house and scuffing the floors because my partner got sick with an undiagnosed infection for from the time the baby was 3 months until almost 5 months(almost completely down for the count). So I still needed to get chores dowe and I don't have a good enough back for baby wearing and our kitchen doesn't have a sink, we have 2 in the bathroom. (We put the dishes in like a dish bin you'd see bussers use in a restaurant). So I'd often put the baby in the high chair after supper, give him a few toys on the table, and drag the chair from room to room as I emptied the dishdrainer in one room and brought it to another, brought the dirty dishes from one room to another. Washed those dishes and folded the laundry. Carried those laundry piles into other rooms to be put away. It made chores take an extra 40 minutes but at least he was happy and someone was spending time with him. I'd narrate where we were going and what I was doing as well for good measure!

@honourbound100
@honourbound100 2 жыл бұрын
Just wanted to update that I asked Mocka about this and they responded that it's safer if a young baby's feet do not reach the foot rest, because the baby may push themselves up out of the seat, thus they recommend setting the foot rest lower. Hm, so is it good or bad for them to reach the foot rest?! 😆 At least this makes it sound like the foot rest can be set higher and it's not a structural issue.

Hi, my request is totally out of this topic. Sorry for that. My toddler niece is addicted to mobile phones. can you please share ways to get out of it?
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melinda I am assuming when you say toddler the niece is around 2 years of age? Technology is really addictive for kids of all ages. What is she doing on the mobile? If it is watching shows then I would stop letting her watch shows on the phone and only let her watch shows on the TV. This will stop her reacting and becoming upset when she sees someone using a mobile (because mobiles have no use for her now). She might love the mobile because she doesn’t know what to do when she doesn’t have it. If she is 2 then her independent play would be limited so expecting her to play by herself would be extremely difficult. Which means that an adult will need to play with her to model how to play - she might be interested in playing with dolls/teddy bears (putting them to bed/feeding them ect) or trucks, animals and balls. If she is finding it difficult to stop playing with the mobile phone I find taking the phone once the show has finished is easier. Also providing a warning that once the show is finished mummy gets the phone and then following through.

We are not happy with our current high chair and looking to for a better option. Right now I am between the Tripp Trapp and Stokke Steps. Do you think the Steps would be better? Thank you and keep up the good work!
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 2 жыл бұрын
Hi @George personally I like the Tripp Trapp better than the Stokke Steps. The Tripp Trapp has more adjustability - you can change the depth and height of the seat to accommodate a growing child, teenager and then adult. You also have more adjustability in regards to foot rest height. I continued to use the baby seat on the Tripp Trapp with my son and daughter until they were 2 years of age. After this point they were able to get onto and off the chair independently. These chairs have the options of anti-tippers so tipping over is not an issue. Hope that helps.

Hi Emma, Im expecting my first baby this April and I do a good amount or research before I buy my baby stuff. Ive been looking into a good high chair lately with all this things that you mention and I saw in another video that you recommend the stokke. I looked a bit into it and Ive found that some moms complain about the short back of the chair and how their babies tend to lean back too much when they get fussy or something. And I dont want that. What high chair would you recommend for that??
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shohoud, I would say that the parents who have reported their baby lean back too much when they get fussy or something in the stokke high chair have set up the seat depth of the chair incorrectly. Basically they haven’t adjusted the seat to move it backwards to ensure it is the right length for the babies legs. When at the right length (which is when the edge of the seat is 2 finger widths from the back of the knee) the baby would not be able to lean back too much. You can get other high chairs which have a higher back but these chairs tend to be plastic chairs which are way too big for babies. You can adjust them though to provide support to your baby while they are small. I have a video on that if you choose to go that way.

@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shohoud I had a quick look at this high chair. Pros of this chair is it is height adjustable, has a removable tray and 5 point harness. Cons are the bucket seat will be too big for 6-9months old babies and you will need to make adjustments to it to ensure it supports a baby this age to sit up (rolled up towels usually work). The footrest does not appear to be adjustable and in the photos of young babies using this high chair you can see their feet don’t touch the footrest. The weight capacity is also low - 33 pounds so 15kg. If you are comparing this highchair with the Tripp trapp then in my opinion the Tripp Trapp is the better high chair.
