Just to clear the air, Miss Dominican Republic is not to be blamed. If anything we should be grateful that she was willing to help and translate for Vera. I have no doubt she tried to the best of her ability. If anyone should be held responsible it would be the organization, since candidates invest a lot of money, time and effort to participate in the pageants...the least the org can do is provide a professional translator to make sure everyone has a fair chance while competing for the crown. Otherwise you're setting up for failure those who don't speak Spanish. ****And also, a 3rd runner-up is an EXCELLENT placement and we should be more than proud and celebrating for Emmanuelle's victory. We love you Luis for pointing out the translation in the Q and A round. Thank you for Dom Republic for trying your best. I really feel it is for the organization to be responsible to hire an expert interpreter. This Q and A translation dilemma also happened to Patch Magtanong during her Miss International stint. The translation is very far from her very eloquent answer wherein she used deep english words which I thought why she did not placed higher than top 8. I also think that when we send candidates to these contests, their Q and A coaches should strategize to answer questions using simplier words but still impactful so that the translation is still accurate and meaningful.

There’s always going to be lost in translation, if the person is being translated by another. Communication with or without an interpreter is never easy. I still give props to the candidate who translated for her. I believe that queens who compete for RH may have to already know some Spanish or take a crash course while they’re still competing for the MWP title.

I brutally agree with you Luis. We know that women nowadays are very powerful but we should also remember that it should not outweigh the right to be given equal chances. It should be balanced. It could have been better if the organization were able to hire a professional interpreter, a female one would do if they would really want to stick with their core that women can do what men can do, who is an expert in such job. The result might be different to what have just happened.

Absolutely no one should blame Miss Dominican Republic. First of all, it's not her job to translate anyone else' answer. And instead of hating her, we should all be thankful for her for trying to help Miss Philippines. If I have to blame someone, I would blame the national director of Miss World Ph. Because it's their responsibility to give her all the tools that she needs to compete in this competition. And I've said this a couple of months ago, because we have the same issue with Miss International. We should bring our own translators to make sure that our candidates' message are accurately translated for the judges. But anyway, I'm so happy and proud for Emmanuelle Vera for representing our country with grace.

What stands out for me is your sincere and passionate expression of your disappointment in and disapproval of the translation portion of Emmanualle's Q&A because it proves that you are honest and fair; not just making nice with your Filipino fans in order to keep them. But you took up arms and went to bat for E.Vera like your own sister and felt bad that the lousy, inaccurate translation may have likely forfeited a higher placement for her In the finale. Agree 💯 about your national costume commentary. Also, your q&a commentary has substance (i.e., vocabulary, conflicts of interest). However, thankful to Miss DR because she didn’t have to translate. She was also there to compete. Providing professional interpreters (someone who studied how to translate in a way that the essence of the speaker’s message does not get lost) is the job of the organization. I would say that to truly be competitive for RH, the MWP candidates need to start learning Spanish months ahead just in case they get crowned for RH. Finally, Miss Mexico 🇲🇽 did an amazing job as well. She is deserving of the crown. All of them are beautiful and intelligent. However, only one can be crowned and it is a competition. I love your energy and vibe. Your videos are fun, informative, and inspiring. Stay awesome and ignore the haters.

First of all, I would like to say that I always love watching every video that you upload on KZbin because of your authenticity and sincerity when you speak and deliver your thoughts which I believed to be untainted and no bias or prejudice whatsoever. Secondly, my thoughts on the issue or topic that you discussed on this specific video...I admired Ms. Dominican Republic for her effort to lend a hand with the translation job that she did for our very own Emmanuelle-that was so noble knowing that she was also competing for the title. Finally, I strongly agree with you when you said that international pageants should be responsible and always at the forefront when it comes to the welfares of every candidate, and one of them is giving each girl an equal share of the stage. And in this situation, by providing a professional translator that would do the job better and not putting pressure on another contestant’s shoulders. It’s not Ms. Dominican Republic’s responsibility to take on the job as a translator in the first place, is it? She’s supposed to be there to enjoy her own journey as a candidate. Well, I’ll stop my own ranting at this point. Hahaha. Emmanuelle’s 3rd RU finish is no easy feat. And she made every Filipino proud, if not prouder. And by the way, I love the way you do the side glance and some eye-rolling during the translation process, and the way you cringe...that was so lovely. Love you Luis! 😘❤️❤️❤️
