What do you think of Ferrix, the people there, and how their lives might change after Cassian's fight with the corporate security?
@svkviper2 жыл бұрын
Their lives will probably change in a very, very bad direction. As his superior warned him in the first episode, if he tries to fix things up, he might mess up things even more. Its kinda like if a kid got keys to his dads car for the first time and wanted to show off 🤷♂️
@grafffuller32652 жыл бұрын
Ferrix seems like a down trodden mix of people...who are subsistance living (hand to mouth). No one is getting ahead. Love the architecture. The iron that must be present, and the rust coloured ground and buildings...that lived in feel. It is a collection of different species. We think that the incident will forever change Ferrix for the bad. Corpos don't like being shown up. They will most definitely tighten the fist and make the population pay for any rising up against their control. Isn't that always the way in these types of things? We cannot say more...since we've actually seen the next TWO episodes. So, we'll keep it at that. Great questions, though.

It is also said that the light in the sky signals a new chapter in his life where he is fearful every time, the first time he gets out of his home planet and starts his journey as a thief, then as a rebel fighter and lastly he sees that same light as he is about to die and that's why the close up that we see in the end is one of a scared man/child , because somehow he might feel that brightness will eventually be the end of him, it is a very well done poetic parallel imo

The real question is how do we get Webster's to accept "blumbling" as a new word?
@grafffuller32652 жыл бұрын
@@moviescatsmargs - This made Marie and I chuckle. Don't;t worry, we knew what you meant. blumbling - mixture of bumbling and blundered Where we live, we hear another consolidation of words, too. It happens. flustrated - mixture of flustered and frustrated. It is actually the BEST use...for you are using one word to exemplify two similar experiences. Don't you love words. So cool. Thank you for a wonderful reaction.

What I love about Andor is how perfectly it handles new characters in just few minutes of screen time. Showing how developed this really is. This episode also marks the first use of actual swear words in Star Wars. Just a fun fact

As others have commented, Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) was referring to Cassian's adopted father, Clem, who was the man with Maarva when they rescued him from Kenari.
@grafffuller32652 жыл бұрын
Yes, Clem and Maarva Andor. That is where he gets his surname.

My assumption is that the guy was referencing Cassian’s adopted father - presumably the man with Maarva in the flashback who helped rescue him

The writing and acting and cinematography are all just top tier in this show. Some people think it doesn't feel like Star Wars, but I'm thinking that's because Star Wars hasn't ever built up a story and characters quite to this level. The Mandalorian is a fantastic show, as you'll see eventually. But this is quickly stacking up to be just as good of a show in different ways, if not better.

I think the fact that the first few episodes doesn't feel like Star Wars is what makes it great. If I didn't know this was a Star Wars show I'd think it was some other sci-fi show. Everything you see is new for the most part, the tech, the droids, alien species etc and the Empire is only mentioned. Also love the gritty themes of it and the writing is superb.

I'm 32 and I've been a Star Wars fan for a long time, so getting a series that feels more adult and has such intelligent writing is such a welcome surprise. I had no interest in more of Cassian Andor back when they announced this series, but hearing that it was something different made me give it a chance, and it was worth it. I love the dialogue, the way they give you information without just saying it and over explaining things, and the way it looks. It's clearly Star Wars, but it feels so much more real and well thought out. There are so many little moments that I haven't ever seen in Star Wars before, like how it handled the guard shooting Timm. Clearly meant to be a parallel to how our own police handle tense situations, and I really liked that the lead security guy took his rifle and sent him to the ship. It feels like a real drama that just happens to take place in the Star Wars universe. I was interested in how someone like you, a new Star Wars fan, would react to this. You haven't been waiting and waiting for something better, you've just been watching everything. You don't have the same feelings of disappointment that I've had for the last several years. But I'm glad you still recognize that Andor is something unique and well made.

The final sequence in this episode -- cross cutting between Cassian being rescued and Maarva saving Cassian as a child, how the events of the episode impacted everyone associated with Cassian, the cinematography to the music -- was just brilliant on all levels. Its one of the best things I've seen in any Star Wars show. When I saw it, I knew this show was going to be legendary. And it is.

Andor is going to tell four story arcs. So Eps 1-3 are one, Eps 4-6 will be another and so on. So we will probably see conclusions to the stories in this season in Eps 3, 6, 9 and 12. So these will be the "big" episodes and the others build character and story.

Epic reaction to an epic arc. You were wondering who Cassian's dad is and given that there were only youngsters in their home planet, I believe the person that Luthen say's got hanged was Andor's adoptive father. Go back to the part where Maarva took him from the downed ship to hear what name she calls her partner. That name will be important in the next episode.

I understand it’s unfortunately not commonly known unless your plugged into the disabled community. But there are many people who need different mobility aids on different days. Chronic symptoms can wax and wane. You can have good or better days and bad days. So yes in this story Marva didn’t use the cane in the flashbacks and did in the current day. But it’s not a rule that you have to always use your cane if you need one some days. I’m an example of that. I use a cane on my hard days, not every day. And also there are people who need wheelchairs but can walk a little bit or a lot depending on the day. Symptoms can be very unpredictable and mobility aids are helpful tools to meet you where you are on a given day. Apologies for the monologue, but I hope one day it will be more common knowledge 💜

Andor is one of the few Star Wars things lately that earns the word “epic”. I hope they do another rogue one type movie. It’s kind of redundant but they could do one for the second Death Star with the bothans. I’m sure they can think of something good to make it interesting and unique

Here we are, again. Thanks. We love your reactions. You have funny snarky quips that get us laughing a LOT. Our desire to see Kassa explore the ship, but then again...we are afraid he's going to get himself killed. Ahhh. The idea that he's never seen this type of technology is a good bet, but then again seeing his reflection in water is one thing (always moving), but seeing his reflection on a solid surface. That's got to be eerie...for a person who's never seen their reflection like that. Hmmm. It was a good transition from present day, seeing B2emo coming toward the camera...then the bus intercecting right before it...and making the classic Star Wars side wife into the past on Kinari. So cool. That is when you questioned why Maarva was walking without a cane...with Clem and the brand new B2emo. Marie and I are not fans of Timm. He burnt his bridge when he ratted out Cassian to the Blues. Then he was stupid enough to out himself by interjecting into a conversation that he wasn't involved in. Ugh. Loser. The scene with Luthen Rael and Cassian Andor (from what we've learned) was the first scene filmed on the set of Andor. Starting hot with a great scene. How does Luthen know that Clem was killed on Rix Road? He couldn't know Cassian's real father...who probably died in the mining disaster on Kinari...a LONG time ago. The clanging is un-nerving. Why did they pick out Bix? Love how Luthen is teaching Cassian...the tools of the trade...and Cassian is a quick study. He puts some of the same things into practice on their own exit...using the rest of the blast charges on the decoy speeder...as they escape on the other one. So cool. The idea of possibly leaving the Starpath. Leave the box. Great cinematography in this scene. No, he didn't get the box. The moment that we all felt bad. Did we hate Timm enough to be glad that he was dead? Of course NOT, but that WAS a moment of WTF. Syril is trigger happy. He is SO out of his league. Love how stone cold hard Maarva is. "That is what a reckoning sounds like." She's a boss lady. We really love (Petunia from Harry Potter). Did you see Brasso leaving the Pod of the Blues? He's done something special...to possibly help out Cassian (his friend). It seems that each person is trying to do what they can, as they can, in this tense situation. "It's when it stops, that's when you'll really want to start to fret." Then she quietly and calmly leans back. I have spoken! LOL. The moment that everything goes to sh*t and Syril is standing in middle of the road. People are darting everywhere. Mosk comes up to get orders, then eventually drags him off. That reminded Marie and I of Tom Hank's character in Saving Private Ryan on the beach in Normandy. Sensory overload. He could cope. Too much. Great visuals of going over the rice fields in the speader. We think she's crying, for she doesn't know what actually happened to him at that moment. Our hearts go to the worst situation. How many people on Ferrix actually know that he got off world? Few...to maybe just him and Luthen...really. The Corpos saw them leaving, but they are currently in a panic. AND everything is going bonkers. Maarva is worried for her adopted son. Is he dead? Did he get away? Will I ever see him, again? No doubt B2emo is wishing he was with Cassian...its buddy. The rescue of Bix. She reaches for him. Love how they did BOTH scenes of Cassian leaving Kinari and Ferrix. Both are really out of his control. He is being taken away, having to start anew. Love the cinematography of this show. Also, love that we just learned the method of the show. An arc is three episodes. Setup, setup and payoff. From what I hear...the cast and crew saw it as four movies strung together. So, the next two weeks will be setting up a new narrative, then the payoff will be in Ep. 6. We are okay with that...now that we know. Sets our expectations for the next two episodes. Do you agree? Yes, a very EMOTIONAL ending, indeed. Our ranking of the series up to now is 1>3>2. We really loved the setup episode, but the third episode was AMAZING. We loved your reaction. Thank you. Talk to you, later.
