I like when cohen shines bright like this. He did his homework, like five times for this kind of performance and I think it shows.

The Sun Song “Precious Energy” gave me a bright smile: Tyreek’s warm voice, the ‘poinciena’ like groove of the whole band, solos (especially intriguing what Emmet did in his LH) I just love the happy vibe of this 🎶💜 😎🎹

I found Emmet Cohen whilst looking for other players, listening initially to the recordings he has made with a number of different soloists. However, it didn't take long to realise the special qualities that his piano brings to every piece he plays. His solo work is full of invention - dynamic and lyrical and his comping is totally sensitive to what the soloist is doing. This is the first time I've heard him play with this drummer and I hope it won't be the last.

Man, those Monettes make everyone sound like Wynton. He doesn't play like Wynton, but the sound is similar. Not a bad thing obviously, just weird.
@curtiseby85937 күн бұрын
I had a monette for a while and I felt like the horn wanted me to try and sound like that instead of Freddie Hubbard which is type of sound I hear.

Definitely having chop problems but not letting it stop the flow of music going through him at all. He is playing great.
@philippefeuerhake80476 күн бұрын
@@FandenFaen you think so? thought that's what he intends to sound like. I think he really intensifies the vibrations by tightening his lips a lot. I actually love how it sounds. He also just played a tour so I think he should be in pretty good shape. I'm honestly interested if you think its intention or bad shape, lmk what you think
