Not really. Running for more yards doesn't mean he was better than Payton or Sanders, just means he hung around longer. Walter Payton was still in good health at the end of his career and conceivably could have hung around another year or two and made it to 18000 or even 19000 yards. He had nothing to prove at the time, he already had both a Super Bowl ring and had the rushing record by a mile. Barry Sanders also retired young when he was still good. Emmitt was a beast don't get me wrong, but the most yards doesn't necessarily mean you were the best. He also had way better O-Lines than either Payton or Sanders.

Funny, this morning I was watching the Cardinals @ Cowboys game Oct 7, 1984.That is the day Payton broke Jim Brown's record vs the Oilers. The run he broke it on was a small 3 yard run, an ugly run. At least this was a little bit of a better run to break Payton's record. They should have had Troy do this game and given Moose the day off to celebrate with Emmitt because there is NO other person more responsible for this record than Moose.

I still need a Hutchinson jersey, preferably in a double star jersey. Anyone have one for sale let me know. Thanks. From this team I have Two Woodson, One Galloway, Matt Lehr, Brandon Noble, James Whalen,Peter Hunter,Quincy, Bryant and three Dat Nyquen jerseys. My Favorite running backs of all time: 1. TONY DORSETT 2. Emmitt Smith 3. Duane Thomas (people really do not understand how great he was. Jim Brown said that other Duane was the best RB after he retired) 4. Gale Sayers 5. Marcus Allen 6. Walter Payton 7. Eric Dickerson 8. Curtis Martin and 10. Zeke, Yes it is a biased list. LOL. Why no Barry Sanders? 3 reasons. 1. He sucked short yardage 2 Was average catching the ball out of the back field and 3. Quit on his team. The biggest load of bullshit I have heard as far as backs go is "There was never a prettier runner like Barry." Biggest load of bullshit. Dorsett and Sayers were just as pretty a runnier if not more so because they did more things than Barry. When I think back as to which running backs killed us the most? It always comes back to one person: Eric Dickerson.

I sent Woodson a check for $10to put to the fine. I still have the bank receipt of him casing the check LOL I put a note in it buy some lunch. Also, not for nothing...it would have been nice of Mr. Smith (as he would demand kids to call him then still he would not sign for them) if he showed up at Irvin's court dates to support him. But between the two Barry would have destroyed that record. But he knew it was gonna come with a price so he chose his body and family and walked away early

The Lions made the playoffs with Barry... he was just a one man show to be honest. They got to the 1991 NFC Title Game and lost to the Packers in a few Wildcard games... he simply got tired of playing for no reason with no expectation of winning a championship. He signed that contract and that kept him in purgatory in Motown.
