It's the foolish ignorance that Skip compared Shannon's longevity, a tight end that was blocking, getting blocked, or tackled in the most physical era, to a qb that had an all pro offensive line and the protection of the refs the majority of his career that was disrespectful and insane.
@rdogletree4543 Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, I said this back when Skip first made the comment and people on KZbin said you can compare the positions based on impact. I told them you can't compare a tight end to a quarterback, a QB will always win that debate. The QB has the ball in his hands every play while a tight end depends on a QB to throw him the ball. Quarterback is the most important position even if it's Baker Mayfield or Tom Brady. Unless it's a team like San Francisco that's not as QB dependent they determine the outcome with their decision making. As a tight end you have 2 jobs, blocking and catching passes.
@Evilkevin3 Жыл бұрын
So what you’re saying is that Shannon wasn’t capable of being the most important player on the team
@rdogletree4543 Жыл бұрын
@@Evilkevin3 That's no disrespect to Shannon but a tight end will never be the most important player on a team. He can be the best player but he can't throw himself the ball. Just last year when Ryan Tannehill was out and they replaced him with Willis that hurt Derrick Henry in his production. Henry is clearly the best player but the importance of the QB outweighs a running back. So like I said a TE can be the best player but not the most important player. You see how the Vikings just released Dalvin Cook, he's better than Kirk Cousins but not more valuable.

When Skip makes valid criticism about Russell Westbrook for his bad play style, nobody ever says he’s unqualified. But when Skip says that Tom Brady is better than Shannon (which is true, if we’re going off of accomplishments and accolades), suddenly everybody says Skip is unqualified to discuss sports because he never played. I agree 100% with Emmitt. Skip Bayless makes nonsensical rants about players that don't even make sense. People that agree with Skip were probably wanna be athletes like Skip. Jalen Rose shamed Skip years ago when he pulled up his high school basketball stats. Averaged 1.8 pt/game. Straight up bench rider. Jalen called him" Water Pistol Pete" because he was a huge Pistol Pete Maravich fan but his game was nowhere close to it. He also called him that because Skip has a habit of calling players names. On the contrast, he shares the stage with one of best Tightends to ever play the game and their analysis is about as different as oil and water. Shannon has bonafide football knowledge who totally understands the x and o's of the game. Skip analysis are filled with emotion and personal opinion based on whether he likes a player or not. No matter how talented or great the athlete is. The dude is a straight up donkey.

The Egyptians, Persians, Babylonians just to mention a few were all huge on the slave trade and none of them were of white race. Learn your history, slavery is not about color it’s about power, conquest and human cruelty. To even be a white man who never played a sport a day in his life, trying to discredit a HALL OF FAME retired black man’s career or talent whilst uplifting a white mans, when it’s TWO DIFFERENT POSITIONS, is vastly telling to US. And that’s not changing. It reminds me of when a white coworker tried to state Justin Timberlake was a better dancer than Chris Brown. All I had to say was, um no he isn’t” and the white coworker responded “no you’re right youre right”. 😂 then why try to spit the bs in the first place ?? I’m humble, no ego, & I like to learn. Every time I interview with a hiring manager, I record the demographics because I’m analytical. 100 interviews. 1 gay, white guy, 2 black women, 2 Asian women and about 95 middle aged, white women. 0 offers. The recruiters (1st interviews) were completely diverse. I lost track of their demographics. After 3 months I got back & look at the roles I applied for on LinkedIn. Only about half are filled. Of that 50, 30 of the hires are middle aged with women. I won’t get into their background but it’s consistent with my story and point. I do use race or gender as an excuse but I council clients on this stuff all the time in the legal & HR field. I’m well versed in discrimination and while I don’t blame race or gender, the data proves otherwise objectively & the optics look bad. That’s what Emmitt is saying except he hasn’t gone back and ran the numbers. Also, I transitioned to sports as an agent and I can tell you many professional athletes see the Skip Shannon dynamic like this. The sound Vite here just sounds bad. I personally wouldn’t have said it like this but athletes are a whole different world. I have to tell players despite being maybe the 500th best basketball player out of 7 billion people in the world, that’s not good enough for the NBA. 500th!!!! 🤦🏽♂️
