I wish somebody would send Emmy some traditional homemade malay 'kuih' or cookies that we usually serve during Eid celebration (Hari Raya). Dodol is one of them though. Then add some chinese snacks (Hiong Piah is famous in my city Ipoh) and Indian snacks.. I'd love to see Emmy eat some homemade murukku, chakli, etc served especially during Diwali XD
@Sriwanti10 жыл бұрын
hey! I was thinking the same! But i dont think it's possible. Traditional kuih (or kue in Indonesian) can go off pretty fast because most of them contain coconut milk/ santan.

emmymadeinjapan I am Singaporean but most of these snacks featured are also available in Singapore too. And I'm pretty sure the other Cheesy snack you were referring to, was the SUPER RING; which is darker in color and more intense in flavor. Stains the fingertips too..

Cheezels and the twisties (also called fonzies in Italy) are an Australian snack, and chupa chups are also originally Spanish I think and the artwork was created by Salvador Dali.

the 2nd snack (traditional candy) is made of gula aren (palm sugar in english maybe??), dodol is made of glutinous rice flour and coconut milk as main ingredients. that first jelly fish crispy is my childhood favourite! :) I'm from Indonesia but we share the same traditional snacks with Malaysia our neighbour country.

Actually, the macadamia nut bar is an improvised(?) Version of the original which is peanuts or ground nut (I cant remember which) and has a layer or white sesame seeds at the bottom. Also, some of the snacks showed in this video are more of the commercialised versions. Like for example, the swirly pepper biscuit thing, they didn't packed them individually (and still don't for some companies which feels the need to maintain the "old" feel). Oh. Last thing, Malaysia has awesome food, best enjoyed in Malaysia itself. So, Welcome! :D

Interesting that a lot of these foods are found in Australia too. I love finding out where different companies choose to sell. Also how the same company can sell completely different things in different countries. And then sometimes they sell the same things, but call it different names. We have Twisties in Australia and then, I think you had the same thing from Italy, but they call them Fonzies.
@bcgrote10 жыл бұрын
Apparently "soy lecithin" is another name for MSG. I found an article that listed the many names that MSG can "hide under". That dodol is interesting. The coconut flavor coming at the end is the opposite of some things, like coconut milk, you get the flavor and smell at first, then it either fades or you get accustomed to it. And with Mounds, it's so sweet and the chocolate is so intense the coconut flavor gets lost and it's just the texture. What a neat pack! These videos are so fun, thanks for doing them!
