One of These Days" is a song written by Earl Montgomery, and recorded by American country music artist Emmylou Harris. It was released in March 1976 as the second single from the album Elite Hotel.

Emmylou Harris (born April 2, 1947) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She has released dozens of albums and singles over the course of her career and won 14 Grammys, the Polar Music Prize, and numerous other honors, including induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2018 she was presented the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Her work and recordings include work as a solo artist, a bandleader, an interpreter of other composers' works, a singer-songwriter, and a backing vocalist and duet partner. She has worked with numerous artists.

+Christian Baker I personally know Emmy! She is one of the most beautiful and sweet musicians I have ever encountered in 40 years of being in the music business! She may actually be the ABSOLUTE SWEETEST! Dolly and only a few others are even close! Most famous musicians you meet you ask them how they are doing first. Before I can even ask Emmy, she immediately asks me how I am doing and means every word. There are precious few musicians like her. There are a few others, I'm not going to lie but very few like Emmy who when I leave her presence I truly feel Blessed! You know it's like that old Jackie DeShannon classic written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, What the World Needs Now is Love Sweet Love And Emmy epitomizes that way of life, the life of compassion and caring!

I'm Emmylou's age and I first heard her sing in 1971. She was unknown then, singing mostly folk music at a bar in Washington DC. I found out her name and kept following her amazing voice, even back then when she was about 24. Then a few years later she was introduced to Gram Parsons who taught her to sing country rock which he helped invent. Look up his story. I then heard Emmy singing a duet with Parsons on a country/western station. It was called 20 thousand roads. I was blown away by their two voices singing together. I ran out and bought the album Grevious Angel, and also his first album called "GP" it's the only 2 albums they made together. Parsons died of a drug overdose in September, 73. Emmy was really devastated, but eventually in 1975 she went Solo with her album "Elite Hotel" which I still have. She took off after that album turned Gold, and she never looked back. I've followed her all those 49 years. Such an amazing voice that's one in a million. Gram Parsons would be proud of how she carried on his music style. Love you always Emmylou. From Tom.

"One Of These Days" is one of my favorites from the "Red Dirt Girl" from Birmingham, Alabama, Emmylou! I guarantee that Gram Parsons is smiling, along with other giants including Waylon, George & Tammy, Johnny and June too. These were people that helped Emmylou get into the Country Western scene in the mid - late 1970's. Now that same Red Dirt Girl from Alabama is being honored by many young Country Swing listeners as they are enjoying, learning, experiencing from the old timey country and western artists. This new generation of what I call "Hollywood Country"music are the rage today, but let us all remember that others paved the road for them by paying their dues thru Juke Joints to opening for George, Loretta. Emmylou took this great song into my generation via local fairs, beer joints, small town bandstands, AM/FM radio.... Every True Country Music Fan needs to hear this one song that captures the very essence of real country music! "Many Thanks"!

Sort of a concept album she did back in the 80s, I think. a fantastic band and a fantastic album!! Can be hard to find, but surely worth it! And very poignant/auto-biographical, if you're familiar with Emmy's early backstory. Saw her perform it in concert, I will never forget it.
