I went to Wagyumafia in Japan to taste their $230 Kobe Chateaubriand Cutlet Sandwich. $230?!!! The sandwich is composed of a chateaubriand steak of Kobe beef that has been lightly breaded, deep-fried and served between two slices of white bread with truffle salt, gherkin, and rakyo -- Japanese pickled onion. 😋

Not eating crusts is only seen as childish because it wastes food, and adults are supposed to not waste food/money. People who can afford $230 sandwiches don't care about this and are going for the flavor alone. They simply aren't worried about that extra scrap of belly filling when anyone buying this can afford to eat whenever they want.

@Northern Lights I think it's smart to be honest. if it was presented as a high-end restaurant it would feel too exclusive. I think having it as it is generates buzz and welcomes casualness. they also sell other beef sandwiches ranging in various prices so anyone can just drop in and get something quickly without having to give up their paycheck lol
@KateCarew
@KateCarew 4 жыл бұрын
Japanese sandwiches are always crustless. The crust on milk bread isn’t great...and they prefer the clean aesthetics. Kobe is crazy expensive so is retail/restaurant space. Tokyo food prices begin on the humble low end at konbini etc but skyrocket with exotic dishes, it’s not hard to drop a grand on one person in Tokyo. It’s not the imperative either...lots of great foods at every price point.

Indeed. People starving and then this for so much money. I do understand it exists and very rich people are (very) able to eat it, so maybe it's a good thing someone like Emmy gets to eat it now. And in travelprogrammes on television presenters take us with them to hard to reach experiences in this way. It doesn't change that it still is a ridiculous amount of money. Does it deserve advertising, making it normal? People maybe saving up for this (again while people are starving). I regret Emmy doesn't make any note of it being controversial.

@@EdwinMaarleveld people starving and people being sick and people having a bad time doesn't mean you have to always bear their pain. Even they want to have something positive, even if it's in a shape of entertainment. Emmy wasn't saying she'll only had this for her life or anything, she just want to share how good the sandwich was to her community, which she knows she couldn't share the real taste, or even stop the world wide economy imbalance. She put the price tag for the sake of telling the community, this good food has a hefty price, so take the content in your own accordance, and that's good enough. There's people who spend their money on worse thing, and you commenting on her video that's not even offensive, it's just a person enjoying good food, is like putting a good person in jail.

This is all about yin and yang of Japanese cuisine. Emmy was told to taste the sandwich alone, then try condiments. The beef was the star, simple bread so as not to distract. Even the sidewalk table was part of the total experience.💞😀

I was just ordering some okonomi sauce on Amazon and it made me think of you. I think it would be wonderful if you would do a Japanese or Asian sauces series of videos and let us know what different sauces are and what they can be used on. It would be helpful to know what American or European sauces they taste similar to. I feel like I'm missing out on so many delicious sauces that I could order online. British brown sauce reminds me of Heinz 57. I love to put okonomi sauce on eggs. My son and his wife had a Japanese Aupair that ordered it and cooked a Japanese breakfast for them and served it on eggs but I'm not sure if that's it's primarily use. I think a sauces series might be cool! There are also a lot of recipes online for homemade versions of the sauces. It's an idea I'm sure you're flooded with ideas though. I really enjoy your videos thank you for making them and sharing them with us, they're informational, entertaining and delightful.

For the critics of this video, I will tell you, it is that good. Go try it. One bit of advice. If you go to a Wagyu steakhouse go during lunch. It’ll cost 1/3 to 1/4th of the price of dinner. Same food but you get only 45 minutes at the grill. Same yumminess.
