A tip for anyone heating up something delicate in the microwave: set the thing to HALF POWER. It'll take longer, but you'll run much less risk of burning or overcooking. :) Also, if you're going to do big gelatin project like this, you don't have to buy lots of little boxes. I made one of these cakes for my birthday last week. It turned out to be mostly jelly and chocolate and not much cake. Use quality chocolate, don't be cheap. It took me about 2 1/2 days to make. I used 2 cake mixes, 2 packets of milk chocolate, half a packet of white chocolate, half a cup of cream and 1 1/2 litres of jelly. The jelly will be more of a gummy texture. If you aren't a fan of gummy jelly you won't like the cake very much. I bought aeroplane jelly and just added some more gelatine, worked well. I layered the jelly from deep blue to a light aqua so I had to do the separate layers about every 5-10 minutes which was time consuming, but worth it. It doesn't last long in the fridge without the mould. The jelly struggles to hold together because of gravity, it will start to split after several hours, so best to take it out and finish it off just before you serve it.

You should've added mint flavor to the gelatin so it was mint chocolate cake

Ricky Ricardo If you like mint desserts Mint jello is reaaaaally good. My grandma (now me) used to make a sorta mint jello and brownie desert thing with hot fudge for parties, it’s the thing that made me a fat kid growing up 💀

This is only the second video of her that I watch and I can already tell she's the most honest food-related channel I've seen (coughtastycough). But jokes aside, I love how she can straight up say "oh well it's not good" to the product she just made, especially when it's a tutorial *and* she's a professional chef. Take notes, everyone.

Oh you ain't seen nothing yet. I feel like sometimes her whole thesis for a video is "this sounds like it will taste terrible, I want to try it!" or "I would never have thought to eat that, let's try it!"

I remember the Alexander/Bob Ross days. The main thing I remember about the Bob Ross show is that I don't believe I EVER made it through an entire show of his without going to sleep and missing the last part of it. His voice was so monotone and soothing that I absolutely could NOT stay awake. I'm not sure if this was days BEFORE any form of recording device was available to record TV shows or if our family just did not have one but we never recorded Bob Ross and what I went to sleep and missed, just stayed missed but I loved his show. He made it look so easy (it wasn't) and I also loved the little critters he sometimes had in his pocket as he started painting. I miss him.

Ok, so I know I'm pretty late in the comments but, this was so super amazing to watch, so beautiful! Baking is pretty much an art within itself sometimes. I myself, am not exactly that artistic or anything.. but this video right here really inspired me because I love baking, I enjoy it very much and I hope to one day create an amazing masterpiece like that. The detail was just gorgeous and so divine looking. The cake literally looked too good to eat. I really loved this video, I pretty much love all of Emmy's wonderful videos, she has become an inspiration to me, this is just a big favorite of mine. I know I may seem kind of dumb but honestly I really enjoyed watching the construction of this cake. Absolutely lovely!

I made this cake. I wanted to boost the flavor of the gelatin, so I replaced some of the plain Knox gelatin with lime and blue raspberry Jello (for color as well as flavor). About a half a box worth, so the color didn’t end up being too opaque. I also replaced the first amount of water with Baja Blast Mountain Dew (again for color and flavor). I used lime juice instead of lemon and backed off the amount a bit in order to add coconut flavoring. No need to add extra food coloring. It turned out to be a perfect shade of ocean blue and still transparent enough! :)

Thanks for this! I’m thinking of using Jello instead of gelatin and this was great to hear.
