The second person asking for advice: as someone who's survived an abusive relationship, excessive jealousy/possessiveness is SUCH A BIG RED FLAG 🚩🚩🚩 Please, if you do end up giving it another try (which I think is a bad idea), listen to Kurtis's advice: if he acts jealous again even once, be absolutely done at that point. It feels like MGK views emo/pop punk like a fashion statement. Just something you can put on. It's very clear that's how he views he since he calls himself emo and what not. Emo/pop punk didn't start with people labeling themselves that. Bands and artists decided to make an unique form of expression and the media called it those labels. It really feels like he's putting an act. I am not gatekeeping. He can dress and play whatever the heck he want. It just looks disingenuous cuz he labels himself with emo/pop punk. Anyways, I remember he told off slipknot for wearing "expensive" shoes.. that they should be wearing doc martins... it's just another example that dude views his pop punk as a fashion statement.

hey person from the last advice: i think getting back to your boyfriend depends on how serious was the thing that happened. If it just annoyed you then maybe it's valid to give him another chance and see how it goes, but if you felt scared and vulnerable then maybe you were lucky to end the relationship before anything more serious happened I agree with Kurtis when he said that you're probably remembering things in a romanticized way, and also: when someone is violent, sometimes they are great most of the time and them gets violent and scary and jealous all of a sudden Trust your guts and try to remember how you feel when that thing happened, so you'll know if it's worth it to get back together. BUT DON'T DO IT BECAUSE OF HIM, DO IT FOR YOU

Going to have to disagree with you on the beatboxing part. I went to a Pentatonix concert with my family for my little sister, since my dad and her used to listen to them all the time. The beatboxer of the group, Kevin Olusola, seriously blew me away. Guy is seriously talented. He does a lot more than beatbox, he plays the cello and sings, but from him beatboxing alone, I gained respect for something I knew nothing about. I’m sure there are other great ones, but that’s the first time I’d ever really seen someone beatbox professionally.

Kurtis, please do an entire episode about RFR - I care SO MUCH, that is probably the most important show of my child hood. The best of CanCon

33:42 I used to have a friend who could beatbox and sing at the same time (well, more or less, he'd be switching between sounds and lyrics fast enough that it flowed together really well) and because he was a really talented singer as well it was just cool as hell. Like, he could almost perfectly replicate Billy Jean by Michael Jackson with just his voice.

The number one regret of the dying is wasting time trying to make bad relationships work. There's plenty of people out there - don't tolerate abuse.

I accidentally paused the video after your rant about your huge figure so before I realised I just thought there was a really long awkward silence and it didn’t even seem out of place. If the mayor of a town had a stream of consciousness podcast this is what it would be like.

I lived in Canada growing up and there’s so many shows/musicians/etc that I look back on fondly that people in the US have no idea about. I always feel weirdly validated listening to Kurtis talk about Canadian television 😂 I had to watch radio free roscoe in secret because it was too edgy for my parents
@AC031152 жыл бұрын
How is it that I perfectly guessed the type of music Kurtis would be into, actually it makes sense since I love that type of music too. Also don't worry Kurtis, I also had no clue who Mitski was until this episode

Radio Free Roscoe!!! RFR is one of my favorite shows ever. The soundtrack affected me so much as a teenager. One Marathon by Reverie Sound Revue is still regularly played on my Spotify. I have a crush on Travis/Smog to this day, because the actor is older than I am and very cute.

idk if mgk is ignoring he was a rapper, but it's kinda funny and depressing and sort of admirable the fact that he is way more successful now than he was when he was rapping

No. Because Radio Rebel came after three Canadian shows about teen radio stations, including Radio Free Roscoe.

I'm from mississauga Canada and I learned just now that ytv stood for youth television lol I never questioned it I just thought it was Canadian version of nickelodeon since they also played those American shows as well as Canadian ones. Teletoon was cartoon network and family was Disney with some Canadian shows thrown it since I think Canada forces broadcasters to put on at least 50% Canadian media (from 6pm to 12am)out so its not just foreign stuff (America, British and Australia/New Zealand.)

I remember Radio Free Roscoe dropping on The N in the US in the 2000s and that was one of my favorite shows on The N. Kurtis having nostalgic vibes about it just makes me wanna get this show on DVD now. I would be down for a Radio Free Roscoe episode of VRG!
@chelseavictoria33122 жыл бұрын
SHOUT OUT TO RFR! Unlocked so many memories with that rendition of the theme song lol... FYI Radio Free Roscoe was on The N in the states, which started out as night programming on Noggin (Nickelodeon's young learners channel), but eventually got its own channel and I believe eventually became Teen Nick
