@@WriteYourAcceptance I used the personal statement to talk about my relationship with identity labels and how overcoming that struggle has impacted my work ethic and critical thinking. I plan on using one of the shorter essays to talk about how being a dancer has shaped my life, but do you think that writing about my thoughts on mission trips for the 'bettering your community' prompt is too risky? I mention religion in my main essay and I'm worried that I'm making my application more about the church than myself.

@@dionne4357 So mission trips are always tricky to write about. what you want to avoid is reflecting on how you were surprised that others who have so little are so happy. also you want to avoid the savior syndrome, you going in a saving someone from their life type language. If you write about church involvement in main essay then do you have something else regarding service that you could focus the community essay on? you could mention something like Beyond participating in mission trips to [location], I also [and then go into another community service activity] that way you mention the mission trips from you dont focus on them and then you go into something else.

I have a question about applying for NYU. My story is a little different since I'm a game developer, and actually have a really successful mobile app with over 10M+ downloads. I found out that NYU provided the Game Center, which is really interesting to me. At the same time, I want to pursue economic courses. My end goal is to mix my developer skills with business to create something big, except I'm not sure if saying "I want to go to Stern Undergraduate school, but also Tisch School of Arts" will create uncertainty in the admissions. First of all congrats on such an entrepreneurial success story already!! That’s amazing. I think you can definitely use your app as part of your why NYU. Second before you think about what you will say, your comment sounded so much more interesting until you got to the line I want to study at stern and tisch...so keep explaining specifics. Second what school / major are you putting on the common app for NYU? That’s what you should focus on. And if tisch requires a portfolio of some sort and you are not doing that I wouldn’t mention it. You can mention a specific gaming course or center though. Hope that helps.

This isn’t really related to supplement essays but Do you think I can get accepted into Emory without having AP classes? The only classes that I guess might be considered rigorous is Dual Enrollment and Honors.

The question I would ask would be are there a lot of AP course offerings in your HS that you chose not to take? If there are and you took easier courses then tricky...if DE and honors courses are the highest level it is very possible. This is not the case for all schools but with a 19% acceptance rate Emory is very competitive. Are you applying to other schools with higher rates of acceptance?

Hi! I wanted to ask if i could still be accepted in Emory if I took 3 AP classes and all honors? Also if I was in jb or varsity sports with dual inrollment in junior year and senior year could I still be accepted? Would that be enough?

Hi Emory has about a 13% acceptance rate meaning it is very selective. The average sat is like 1450-1540 around there. You could be accepted but you want to consider test scores and essays. All factors will be important! And make sure you have a balanced school list. Good luck!

@@duocnguyen1164 you definitely have competitive scores. Congrats! However it tends to be a holistic review meaning only because you have the scores doesn’t necessarily mean you get in but you will be competitive. Your essays are key and like I mentioned - have a balanced school list. Good luck!!

Yes, I would consider writing about something else...to share as much about you as possible. I would consider options that showcase leaders, community service, intellectual curiosity, and if any of this is also couched within a cultural landscape you can then double dip on content.

Hi are you talking about this supplement - What academic areas are you interested in exploring in college? (200 words) For me that’s typically focused on what you want to major in and what resources within and beyond the classroom Emory has for you to pursue your academic interest. If you have another subject to also add in great, but I would dedicate at least some of the essay to your major

@@brittanykateaugustin2791 I would find a way to connect learning languages and travel with medicine...you need to have cultural competency and adapt to diverse patient populations...I could see you mention a class about languages maybe Spanish and how it would deepen your knowledge of medical Spanish...also maybe a study abroad with Doctors Without Borders type...so something that connects these interests to your academic interests. I would also mention how bio interests you...maybe about how different organs 'talk' to each other and then connect them to your love of languages ...so you can get creative on connecting ideas.

Im from Bangladesh and i studied in national curriculum and right now I'm giving it alll in my Sat preparation. I didnt have that much ecas in school but i had a publication on math pedagogy in a q3 journal and a translation works also will come out in a few days. I'm further developing a resource based math website for high schoolers of my country. Do you think my application will stand a chance?

@@WriteYourAcceptance I'm in no way a promising or extra ordinary student neither im a good problem solver . I started liking math from the 10th grade when i got to be in a national olympiad in my country. Problem with south asian countries specially for middle class is we lack good teaching and resources a lot and get less time to develop our passion for an unhealthy academic competetion and entrance exam. But I personally love math, i learn it by my own and i desire to help others like me by writing and gathering up resources. Though i have a reasearch publication and a translated textbook coming , that only can proof my community dedication rather than my personal accomplishments . Do you think those community work will stand out as good enough ecas?

Also another research paper on mathematics education will soon be submitted for peer reviewing😀. I guess that will make my essay a lil heavy . My primary aim is to do a major in math and then pursue reasearch and postgrad on math education. Is there any chance for me at unis like john hopkins, nyu , uboston , rice and umich with aid?

@@nibirhassan Sounds like you are doing a number of very interesting and compelling things. Not all in US college apps are stats driven though...you want to make sure on how you craft your essays. I would check out some of my play lists on college essays so you get a sense. Also, I would consider applying to a few schools...see which schools have a prominent number of international students...where you would want to be etc. Give yourself better chances by having a varied school list.
